Twenty-four-year-old mom Chloe Driver was charged with malice murder after she allegedly stabbed her 13-month-old daughter, Hannah, to death in 2020. When 911 was called, police said they found both the baby and Driver in her bedroom, each suffering from severe stab wounds. Chloe Driver is facing multiple charges, including murder and child cruelty. If convicted, she could face life behind bars.

Correct verdict. Hannah didn't deserve this. Mental illness or not, that poor child suffered such a terrible death. The person responsible needs to be held accountable regardless.

In Georgia, a defendant found guilty but mentally ill (GBMI) for a felony is sentenced the same as if they were found guilty of the offense: * They are incarcerated in an appropriate penal facility * They are evaluated and treated for their mental illness, if indicated, within the limits of state funds * The court determines whether and to what extent the defendant requires treatment A GBMI verdict means that the jury found that mental illness contributed to the defendant's actions, but did not override their judgment.

Indeed! The respect this judge has for her jury demonstrates immense commitment to & fulfillment of her job description...a surprisingly bare minimum standard to see occurring in a US court 😅 Especially appropriate to have a compassionate judge capable of this standard of integrity for such an unsettling case, I cannot imagine a single member of the jury returning home and simply forgetting about what they saw & heard within this court room... ):

For anyone who doesn’t understand what will happen with a “guilty but mentally ill”: She will still do prison time. She will be placed in the department of corrections care and it’s up to their discretion if they think she needs to be at a hospital for some of her sentence. She will be punished exactly as if she was found just guilty. Just because you have a mental illness/illnesses doesn’t mean you can’t be responsible for your actions. She knew it was wrong. She knew what she was doing. She knew what weapon she wanted to use (even researching which ways to do it) etc Personally, I think the jury got it right. There was just no proof that she was insane at the time of the act. Also, for people saying the “cult” should be charged also. Absolutely not. They didn’t stab their baby. Should this Ben or Z guy be charged with assault, fraud, battery, and a whole bunch of other things, most definitely, he’s sounds like a horrible human but you can’t put her actions on him. She chose what to do herself.

She was found not insane in the moment of the crime. So she was aware of what she was doing, she was aware she killing her baby, however, she was doing so because she was so mentally ill. Insane in a legal form is a very specific state of mind during the action of the crime without the context of any other time. Its hard for the defense to fight it, as she admits that she was aware that it was her child and that her actions would result in the death of the child. Morally =/= Legality. Because morally, she was out of her mind thinking that by killing her kid she was saving the baby. But that doesn't matter legally.

No problem with the verdict. This young woman was the victim of a guru whose right-hand man Jason Allen Spillers "Tex watson" did not hesitate to strike a courageous woman who tried to intervene to prevent the members of the sect from recovering Driver and her child. Creepy.

For once? With nearly 50,000 Juries per year in the US, and each separate Juror doing their civic duty, please delineate 49,000+ that got it wrong to include case numbers.
@tencentpistol1

@@cherielafleur3137 I'm not gonna delineate anything but what I will address is your inability to decipher a figure of speech from a factual statement. See, a "figure of speech" is a type of illustrative statement that doesn't necessarily include "truths" or "facts" but uses allegory to prove a point, where a "factual statement" is well, a statement of fact. That said, I'll also clear up my original statement by saying that IT WAS SARCASM, WIT. Things you obviously lack. Thank you for your reply, now go outside, the adults are talking

@@cherielafleur3137 oh, and one last point(besides the one on top your head) 50k juries per year(your numbers not mine) at 12 jurors per case(not including alternates) would come out to around 600k jurors per year, not the "49,000+" that you claim in whatever "maths" you used(which you are also in desperate need of a refresher course in)...

Yes she will spend her time in a pysch unit, the rest of her life? highly unlikely, more like a set amount of years set out by the judge, then, after that if those involved deem her safe for release she ill get out with continued care in the community. If your expecting life forget it, shes been proven mentally ill on all counts which makes a massive difference to her sentencing following the judicial guidelines. In my opinion the jury got it right, she must pay but shes clearly not a full xmas tree.

Guilty but mentally ill means (according to Google)... In Florida, a defendant who is found guilty but mentally ill (GBMI) is sentenced in the same way as any other defendant who is found guilty. The court will then determine if the defendant needs mental health treatment and to what extent. The defendant will receive mental health treatment and then serve the remainder of their sentence in prison.

This is not the same as guilty by reason of insanity in Georgia.
