I hope this game was made like doom was. Where Doom was entirely a 2D game, but because of the perspective camera angles, it was perceived as a 3D game. (Genius and revolutionary game design of it's time)

In the unlikely event that you need to engage in medieval combat your weapon of choice should be a long spear (ideally paired with a shield). The spear requires little skill to wield effectively and renders most other melee weapons useless as the reach of your spear prevents them getting the dangerous end of a sword/axe etc. close enough to do you any harm, you just keep poking them every time they get close and should they manage to get past you've still got a shield to protect yourself. If however the opponent is heavily armoured (like knight or some shit) then you'll be wanting a war hammer, it's heavy and sharp enough to penetrate armour but not so heavy that you're out of breath after a few swings and doesn't leave you wide open to a counter attack should your swing fail to hit the target.

Interesting fact, Doom and by extension Wolfenstein 3D were not actually 3D games, instead, they were 2D games that were projected onto your screen. Doom used a more optimized version of this which allowed for different wall heights. For more info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJOZdqJneZuJjZo
