Great review. But I disagree with all the "convenient stuff". As many other potential users I own a lot of audio and video gear, I have HiFi amps and speaker and inteligente TV Boxes, bluray 4k UHD players, etc. I would rather prefer having a striped down versión of Max model at the price of the Plus 2. No need to have sound amps, speakers and Google/Android TV and apps. All that convenience will eventually will become obsolete, give us a box with the best video hardware and optics with lots of inputs and outputs for other audio/video hardware (actually there are plenty already) I suppose getting rid of all that hardware/software can make a more competitive product for audiophiles and videophiles.

But let’s be fair, this product definitely offers quite a bit and rivals some of the best out there that don’t offer these features. I definitely am interested in one of these

Great video sir!!! Question. I have an EPSON 5050UB with an amazing feature that allows for two programable Lens buttons on the remote. I have a 2:35 screen and when I want to watch a movie in that format I simply select "Lens 1" on my remote and the zoom/size changes to my custom setting for that button. When I want to switch back and watch regular tv (16x9) I can simply select "Lens 2" and the project "zooms out" automatically. Do you know if the Valerian or any of the other laser projectors in this price range have this ability?

No. Literally no on that buys this projector will have it calibrated. Others have validated the claimed numbers so those are not in question. It does what it claims to do. My concern is what is the experience going to be like to the consumer that will buy this projector. This is a lifestyle projector so the built in apps, the speakers, etc etc are extremely important. I don't get why all of these projectors even run an OS at all. The higher end ones don't, because bringing your own upgradeable Fire Stick or Apple TV is better. Bringing your own streamer prevents your projector from needing to be upgraded any time soon. If it's built-in, then as the OS keeps getting upgraded, it gradually makes the projector perform slower and slower, and you can't upgrade the projector's CPU or RAM, so the experience just gets worse and worse. With no OS built-in, you just attach a new upgraded Fire stick or Apple TV and you're back at full speed.
