It always amazes me how few people have heard of Voctave, especially when they love Disney songs. The members of Voctave are all currently or formerly Cast Members at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and most sing/sang with Voices of Liberty in the rotunda at the American Pavilion in EPCOT. Jamey Ray, the arranger of all their songs, and the founder of the group is a music professor at Rollins College on the North side of Orlando (best known for alum Fred Rodgers of Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood). The group does consist of 11 members, although since this recording, 2 of the men retired and were replaced. Some of their earliest works didn’t have all 11 members and they have often had feature guest performers sing with them. All of their songs are a cappella, save one that they did with Mariachi Cobre (the live Mariachi Band outside the Mexican Pavilion at EPCOT) in their rendition of Remember Me/Recuérdame. They’ve sang with Legends like Mark Lowry in his song Mary Did You Know, Sandi Patty in Beauty and the Beast, Kirsten Maldonado (PTX) in the Disney Love Medley, Jody McBrayer in Someone Like You, Rachel Potter in a Halloween mashup of Poor Unfortunate Souls/I Put A Spell On You, plus another Disney Halloween Mashup featuring Paint on his channel. There are more but that gives you an idea. They sing a lot of Disney music, a lot of Christmas music, a lot of Broadway Show tunes, a lot of … well you get the picture. They are eclectic but always the highest of performers. Their live concerts are better than their recordings, if you can believe that, even though they started off as just a studio group. Jamey, ever the consummate arranger, started off just getting members of Voices to come in and record pieces that he had arranged like ZIP-A-DEE-DOO-DAH or the Andrews Sisters Medley or Moon River. After they did the Disney Love Medley (featuring Kirsten and her then fiancé Jeremy Michael Lewis) Jeremy helped Jamey come up with the name of the group and suggested he should just get a core group of singers to do this all the time. For the most part this is the side job for most of them, as they are all professional singers in their own right. Several tour solo singing their own songs, most are in 2nd or 3rd groups as well, and some are Voice Actors. Trust me, once you dive into this well, you won’t regret it. They are hands down the best a cappella group out there, with their wall of sound and intricate harmonies. I’ve seen musicians, arrangers, voice teachers, etc all react to their music in amazement. They are always flawless, technical and dynamic. Every piece is an original arrangement by Jamey, who btw arranges for the voices of the group members individually not for a part. So instead of arranging a mezzo-soprano part, he arranges a part for Kate Lott, or instead of arranging a low bass part, he arranges one for Karl Hudson. This way he gets each of them performing in their sweet spot and never trying to sing something out of their range. So hang on and enjoy the deep dive into Voctave.

All 11 members are former or current singers with the Voices of Liberty at EPCOT in Disney World. They've all had other singing gigs at Disney World as well. They have an extensive catalogue of Disney songs, so check out their Disney playlist! "Disney Heroes & Villains Medley" features solos from all 6 men and is one of their best works. They do lots of Broadway too. "She Used to Be Mine", "Santa Fe", "Someone Like You" (feat. Jody McBrayer), "Somewhere" (solos from all 11), "I Know Where I've Been". The second man from the left (blue shirt and jacket) is Jamie Ray who founded Voctave and arranges all their music. Many Voctave members are past or present members of Voices of Liberty who sing at the American Pavilion at EPCOT in Disney World. The core group is 10-11 people. One song you should hear Voctave do is the Great Movie Medley, an ode to the great John Williams and his movie scores.Their voices ARE the orchestra. There's only one song in it that has actual lyrics. It is an amazing sound!! Voctave doesn't use auto-tune or pitch control,because they want to sound the same live, as they do on their albums and videos.Their arranger,Jamey Ray is genuis level and has arranged for PTX, Voice Play and many others. I had the thrill to see them last September. On a few songs they put their microphones on the floor and the sound never changed from when they were using mics.

One other note: a major factor in their phenomenal sound is the arrangements. Jamey Ray (who sings tenor in the group) does their arrangements and he writes to each specific voice, highlighting their strengths. By the way, this is their standard voicing and personnel, although a few of the members have changed since this video was recorded.

There's a medley of Disney Saturday morning cartoon themes from the 90’s which you both might like. There's a movie medley which a again might appeal to both of you as well as there version of the Impossible dream. Plus there's the amazing versions of Christmas songs they've done and many more Disney songs and one or two more medleys similar to this one. Plus some show tunes. They've really tried to have something for everyone in the covers of songs they do. This is definitely one of my favourites. Could hardly believe what I was hearing the first time I heard them. I think they have gone on tour, but I'm sure others will fill you in about that. They in fact have a new album of tunes coming out soon.

Can't believe he is so unaware of Disney music. Take a look at the Great Movie Medely. At least your bound to have experienced most of those. They do tour around Christmas, often in smaller markets at reasonable prices. Couple of amazing holiday songs you should try to schedule this season:. Mary Did You Know, featuring Mark Lowry, the song's lyricist, in a powerful and heart rending performance; also (from the Grinch) "Where Are You Christmas?" featuring a five year old. So it's always 11 Voctave members but they frequently bring in featured guests. One of my favs is the Disney Love Medely, featuring Kristie from Pentatonix. Mind blowing.

Hi! I just watched your reaction to last year’s performance of Voilà by Emma Kok and Andre Rieu, but have seen no other reaction to her by you. She is now 16 and has been on a world tour with Andre ever since last year’s performance in Maastricht. Just a few months ago during summer, they were back in the same venue. She performed, in my opinion, an even more beautiful song called “Dancing on the Stars.” It was written about 20 years ago, before Emma was even born, but shelved by the composer because he felt there was just no one he wanted to perform it. That is, until Emma came along last year! In the video, he is actually in the audience! Emma acknowledges him, then has the honor of singing the song for the very first time ever! You definitely should react to this beautiful masterpiece performed by this exquisite young angel! Thank you!

So Voctave is made up of people who sang together in "Voices of America" at Disney World in Orlando,FL. Most of them were in several Disney projects so they come by it naturally. To that end, they have a lot of Disney in their catalog. One you really should do is the Disney Love Medley and they bring in a couple guests including Kirstie Maldonado from Pentatonix.Another one is the Prince of Egypt Medley. And yes, Voctave is 11 members full time but there have been some changes to that line up over the years (mainly with the guys)

Glad you found Voctave. These men and women are professional vocalists of the highest level. Your other a Capella groups are fantastic, but even they don’t hold a candle to these guys…and they’ll tell you that. Geoff Castelucci of Voiceplay mentioned Voctave’s bass, Karl, when speaking of bass singers he looks up to as top-of-the-game. The tenor, EJ, has sang with Voiceplay on several songs as well. His finale in Heroes and Villains Medley will melt your face.
