Really great video. The tip about the blue tape on the sleeve or pant leg is HUGEly helpful. I cannot believe I didn't think of it myself. I appreciate your posting this. It will come in so helpful. Yay!!

Great tips!will the rust oleum sprays work on z foam too?
@Killerplanes9 жыл бұрын
Probably- just test it on a spot inside before you go all out. Spray the paint onto a scrap, and use a brush to transfer a thick brushstroke to the foam- and then watch it. If it starts eating into the foam, scrape it off and wipe with alcohol. Cut out the spot if it's really acting like Alien blood- just like on the Nostromo, you don't want it eating through the outer skin

Liam Mattingly Rustoleum just works.(When applied in multiple SUPER thin coats. Something about the chemical composition. Also I like the dayglo orange!

Somehow every time I spray paint, the paint makes its way under the tape and makes a mess. What am I doing wrong?
@Killerplanes9 жыл бұрын
masso172 could be 3 things- 1- spray from the "outside", so you're not pointing the nozzle under the tape edge. 2- the sooner you remove the tape, the less time the paint has to travel under it 3- spray light coats- loads of wet paint will travel easier by capillary action. And do make sure the edge of the tape is pressed down well

where can I buy the hawkfighter
@Killerplanes7 жыл бұрын
There's a link above in the description. The Hawkfighter has been my reinforcement design test bed for the past 6 years, and it shows! The Hawkfighter V8 (that's with Supermax reinforcement and all the plastic plate options installed) is now at this level: The most recent 4 (four) Hawkfighter V8s we "tested out" each lasted for OVER 45 flying speed crashes (yes, more than FORTY FIVE crashes EACH) What this means is that each one also had another 15 or so "takeoff or landing speed" crashes, which we don't include in our counts since those do no damage to the planes. If we DID count them, that's OVER 240 crashes on only 4 airframes, most of the crashes between 20MPH and 50MPH. There were some crashes over 50MPH, but not many- I can usually at least pull the power off when it's going in. But I do average at least 1 full speed crash (70MPH) on each one. The Hawkfighter V8 is now the longest lasting EPO RC plane design in the world, in terms of absorbing abuse from crashing and hard aerobatics. It will only be exceeded by a plane that's designed and built for strength in the factory, rather than added on later (the Hawkfighter is built on the Dynam Hawksky 1 airframe, and I'm looking for an investor to produce The Shark, which is like a Hawkfighter Terminator on steroids)

Why Rust-Olium paint?
@ImaPilot1009 жыл бұрын
Hey Steve, how long are you waiting before you do your second scheme. I thought it would pull the paint off unless it's fully dried.
@Killerplanes9 жыл бұрын
I just wait til it dries, but I'm using FLAT paint sprayed in light coats. Also, I usually use blue painters tape and apply and remove it on my pants leg or sleeve to minimize the stickiness (you can even use regular masking tape- just do the pants leg thing 3 or 4 times instead)

Killer Planes Cool thanks for the tip. Also have you tried the RocHobby models yet. They are branch off of FMS. About the size of the Durafly models with the setup that's on the 980mm P47. Fast and tuff. The Corsair clocks 100+ on 2 blade 11x12. Thought they might be something you would like to play with.
