I fucking SCREECHED and then proceeded to rewatch that clip about 4 or 5 times before finishing the episode😅 The kiss on the check. The part where villanelle aggressively pulls Eve in. The slow to fast, the little ass smack on the ass while they are laughing at the end. The walking part was funny af cuz I bet it was soooo uncomfortable for them to do, but it was so cute😂😂😂

I choose to believe it ended with their kiss. I’m so tired of this trope, it’s mentally & physically exhausting. Have they learned nothing from Lexa? It’s been 6 fuckin’ years now, I still haven’t recovered & I don’t think I ever will. As if it wasn’t traumatizing enough with Clexa, now again with Villanelle & Eve? Script/screen writers, please stop telling LGBTQ+ characters that they’re not worthy of happiness unless it ends with a bullet in their backs. i dont think they are telling LGBTQ+ people they aren't worthy of happiness. Villanelle is a serial killer who impulsively kills people at the smallest provocation. The series could only end with her death. A happy ending would make no sense in the broader context of the story. That being said it still would have been nice to see.

It's so hard to rank the worst... Villanelles was HEARTBREAKING, the way she was told she was a monster, how no one would love her, how she wasn't capable of love. For her to FINALLY get it and it be taken away? The last 2 minutes were completely unnecessary they did nothing for the storyline, not even Villanelle killing the 12 was needed, why spend 4 seasons talking about them, spend all 7 episodes of season 4 trying to find them to have them all die in less than a minute and not show a single face or reveal a name? The writers are saying Eves scream as she comes out the river was a scream of rebirth and how she can finally live her life is the most bs I have ever read. That was not rebirth, that was heartache. The logic of the shooting also makes 0 sense, how can they shoot her in the back, they jump off the boat and they still are getting fired at? Wouldn't the boat be in the way PLUS ITS DARK! How could they have possibly landed 2 perfect shots from behind a boat and in the dark it was just poorly written and has caused a lot of upset for fans

I can’t stop thinking about this. They ended it so abruptly. Eve in the water screaming, Carolyn with her “jolly good “. If Niko can survive a pitch fork through the head and Eve can survive a shot in the back, why couldn’t Villanelle survive? I’m wondering if they left it open ended like that on purpose? Idk if it’s just my broken heart trying to protect myself , but I still have this sliver of hope that Carolyn helped stage her death. She did say “ I owe you a dare.” 🤷🏻‍♀️

It makes no sense at all. it's just horrible writing and if you want to be even more angry you can read laura neal's(writer) interview about this ending. she was saying shit like "Eve escaped and she will go on and have an amazing life", "Villanelle's death is Eve's rebirth". what an absolute bullshit. Laura Neal does NOT understand these two characters and this ending is a huge disresprect to their past(phoebe waller-bridge could never!!!!!). what a dumb way to ruin such a beatiful wlw love story. Nobody actually cares about her because she's 1) boring, 2) talks in MI6 lingo that NOBODY understands, trying to sound smart and all which actually comes across as pretentious, and 3), doesn't express some truth of the human condition, much like how Villanelle and Eve's relationship did about a distorted idea of 'love' and obsession. She's not relatable and she's just not enjoyable to watch and it's very hard for the audience (or for me, personally speaking) to build a connection with her when she takes a whole tour around the world searching for the answer as to who killed Kenny, only to come short of that answer by the end of the season (Like...what was the purpose of those 7 episodes then?????), only to then kill our favorite wlw couple who've actually developed as characters (to lovers!!) and have come so far since Season 1. She has not been properly developed and fleshed out as a character as Eve and Villanelle have. That's just bad writing on the showrunner's part (*cough* *cough* LAURA NEAL *cough*), but Carolyn doesn't deserve to be the center of a spin-off of the series since she has little to no redeeming qualities to show.

I was expecting the series to end in tragedy since episode 1 of s1, so I was kind of mentally prepared for everything, especially knowing that Phoebe Waller Bridge didn’t write s4 but this ending still saddened, disappointed and pissed me off. This proves how detached from the audience the screenwriter is. With the 2 final minutes they invalidated completely Villanelle’s redemption arc and the story in general. What doesn’t sit right with me is the fact that in the books Villanelle and Eve survive, so this decision of killing her off was super unnecessary and deliberate. And from this show! And the interviews where the screenwriter tries to justify her decision are even worse.

I've been pissed off since Sunday morning. But I think I convinced myself of some bright spots. Villanelle dying saving Eve proves she did feel something, and that was love. The selfless kind. It also proved she changed. Earlier seasons Villanelle did cruel shit to Eve and sometimes watched shit happen to her without helping her. This time she didn't let anything happen to her and put herself in the way knowing Eve would be okay. Personally I'd have preferred they kept with the book. Especially if you read the writer's thoughts on the ending, its infuriating.

Thanks you Adam for speaking out for us. The last two minutes of the finale really ruined everything, not just the finale, not just season 4 but also our memories with the entire series. The way they did it was really brutal. Like how are we ever going to feel joy again every time we see Villanelle and Eve on any media, when we know that’s the fate ahead of them? How can we ever feel Carolyn as a cool strong woman representative ever again when we know she is a traitor who killed our beloved character. And the way they have to film V shot dead multiple times behind her back, couldn’t even touch eve one last time and just left to sink in the cold, dark water forever. It just fucking haunted me. Is that how you treat a character that’s so well crafted and iconic after all four seasons, and for the writer claiming her death as glorious? And said leaving Eve alive screaming on the river alone in despair was a rebirth to her? How much nonsense are they talking about? This just hurts SO much on every level and an utter betrayal to all fans.

After watching this ending, I couldn’t sleep so I hoped online to check out fan theories and see what people were saying. I heard one theory that made me feel better and gave me a little hope. When Carolyn says, “I owe you a dare.” That was code for “ let’s fake your death” or implying a plan. That would kinda match the books, and hey! Niko survived a pitch fork through the throat!! So…maybe…it was fake blood? Idk and I don’t really care how far fetched that theory is, it works better than Villanelle dying like that.

Apparently the final bridge scene from season 3 was supposed to set the tone for season 4 (eve and villanelle finally accepting they cannot live without each other and taking down the 12 together from the beginning of the season, to them finally expressing their love and getting together at the finale of season 4), but instead they decided to give a complete turn and separate them almost all season only to reconcile at the end. And I was ready to forgive all of this if they gave us a satisfying finale, but no. The kiss and all their scenes together were beautiful yes, and I expected villanelle to die, but not like this, something didn't feel right. Plus, the fact that they end up together on the books...anyways I'm still gonna recommend this series because it was amazing (especially the first 2 seasons) and villanelle is one of the best characters ever in history. But what a let down, I wasn't this disappointed with a finale since game of thrones.

V pulling away for a second, like thinking about if this is really happening, than at 16:05 the smile of V, she can't get enough, and Eve giggling, the hands, and than again the passionate look. If anyone remembers the season four BTS of Jodie on the boat - was talking to a director, maybe Laura offscreen, Jodie was REALLY sad! We all originally thought it was because this was the final season of her first massive break into Hollywood (which partly has something to do with this). But, this wasn't the last scene she shot/performed/read; Jodie KNEW this wasn't the way the show was supposed to end! But, I truly believe when a door closes another door opens, and since Villaneve/Killing Eve is gone...last night Gentlemen Jack came back so that will hopefully bring us (as queer people) hope.

Did anyone else notice that the Villanelle getting shot scene was essentially a copy of the final Willow/Tara moment from Buffy? Literally if Villanelle had simply looked down at Eve's chest and said "your shirt," while noticing the blood stain that was suddenly there, it would have been exactly the same. Lazy and disrespectful writing. It was wrong to do to Willow and Tara back then, and it was wrong to do to VillanEve now. I said what I said.

I’m sad that eve never got to give an explicit love declaration but you could tell villanelle felt loved the entire episode. villanelle knew everyone was wrong and she was capable of being loved and being in love genuinely and she died knowing it. with the tarot cards she got the sun card, and to her being loved back by eve = the sun, pure and true happiness (even if it was only a few hours) and eve got the death card, having to live without villanelle especially after they came together is worse than a physical ‘death’ for her. so yeah those cards were right. i’m never going to recover

It will be interesting in a couple of years to hear Jodie and Sandra’s real opinions on S4, because atm they can’t really speak the truth about it because they were doing interviews premoting the show and it’s not long finished. When S4 premiered, I watched it weekly. I reached up to episode 3....I then decided I would wait for the rest of the episodes to come out that way I can binge it all. Flash forward to the night the series finale premiered. Something in me told me to check out twitter before I started my binge, and so I followed my gut feeling. I opened twitter and I was....devastated by what I read....people were tweeting about how it ended and being angry, sad, and depressed. I was in tears when I read the spoliers, I could not believe it! This show was groundbreaking in its storytelling and the main relationship of Eve and Villianelle was everything. All that build up to finally get the moment we fans have been waiting for....only for it to all go down the drain in those last 2min of just pure and utter Bull! I was feeling all kinds of emotions that night. As a lesbian, I grew up trying to find representation and love stories that would end on a happy note....it was really hard. I had to go digging for it all over the internet. And the mention of people comparing this to when Lexa died....I fully agree with that....I never got over her death, and for this to bring those emotions back, along with what I was feeling in that moment. I was completely gone. The next couple of days I just rewatched the Villaneve kiss over and over....and to me that was the TRUE ending to the series! Thank you for reacting to the series finale because honestly after finding out how it ends....I don't think I will continue watching. JODIE and SANDRA WERE JUST AMAZING!!! I JUST LOVE THEM FOR WHAT THEY BROUGHT THIS FINALE SEASON. I hope to see them together again in future projects

okay so, after that horrendous finale, we still don’t know: - who killed kenny - who the 12 are (and by the way, the goal of the show for FOUR seasons was to get to the 12, the whole build up was enough to make you think that when the moment finally came, it would be insane - whereas in reality, the actual murder on the boat was nothing but lazy writing and we didn’t even get to see their faces. it was a scene that lasted like a minute, shoved at the end of the FINAL episode - rushed for no reason. also, you’d think they’d be armed but villanelle and eve just magically got on the boat without any issue) - what happened to mi6 and how carolyn might still be involved with them - what pam’s role and importance was (other than to kill konstantin) - how did v and eve get the 12’s location through helene’s phone???? helene had no idea who the 12 were and was on the same page as eve, trying to pin point where they might be. so how could her phone be used to get their location??? - what happens to eve, and if villanelle is really dead. i read somewhere that maybe villanelle and eve faked their deaths in order to get away from the 12 and anyone else involved, and maybe carolyn was in on it. either way, i don’t fully believe that villanelle died. she was shot in the shoulder area and her back, and when eve reached the surface of the river (which she actually did very quickly) maybe that was quick enough to get help and save villanelle. villanelle has endured a lot of physical pain so it wouldn’t surprise me if she made it out alive. but, if she did in fact die, that’s got to be one of the worst deaths in tv history. she was half of the show, one of the best characters of all time, and the best way to kill her off was this?? i don’t believe that for a second. it’s very disrespectful and a huge injustice towards a character of that much importance to the show. you’d imagine that her death scene -if she HAD to die- would be extreme and well planned, non predictable whatsoever. but to have her shot in the BACK? her death scene buried in the LAST couple of minutes in the LAST episode??? right after she got what she wanted for such a long time (eve)? i’m sorry but no, the only way i can see the writers fixing their mistake, now that eve is clearly alive, is to bring villanelle back and save her, even if they can’t be together ever again. nobody was expecting a happy ending with both v and eve running into the sunset and getting married, but no one had to violently die like that FOR NO REASON. you either kill off both of them, or keep them alive. i would’ve preferred an ending like the season 3 finale - an open ending, well-written and thought out, without unnecessary deaths. and that would maybe mean that eve and v go their separate ways, but i’d be okay with that as long as they both live. a good ending doesn’t mean a happy ending. and this was neither.

I think the note Carolyn recieved from Konstantin was saying that Villanelle killed Kenny (that's what ppl are supposing), but even then, why kill her? Becyause like, first of all I thought Carolyn was looking for the person who ORDERED the murder, which clearly wasn't V coz she's just the person who kills. And anyways Kenny kinda got embarked into this whole M16 & the 12 stuff because of Carolyn too so like, she's not really one to talk in this situation in my opinion. And like, basically this means the whole storyline for Carolyn this season was to what? Get revenge for Kenny? They've all done bad things: V, Eve, Carolyn, etc. This whole season is just lazy ass writting and what you said about the whole scene of the 12 being murdered is exactly what I was thinking too. The whole plot of this show is that there's this sort of mytical group of people that are extremely dangerous and hard to find and they're trying to eliminate them. And then Villanelle just walks in and...kills them all? 😂😂 V is a very good assassin but like wth hahah And seriously like, nobody who watches Killing Eve was expecting a bubbly little fairytale ending with how this show works. But they could've written the whole thing SO much better. They litteraly gave us a Clexa 2.0: giving us what we've been waiting for forever and then 2 seconds later killing off one of the two characters. It's unoriginal and not even tragic in a good way.

i read an article with fiona shaw where she confirms that konstanin’s letter was him admitting to being the one who killed kenny. carolyn didn’t have villanelle killed to avenge her son’s death. it was to get back in favour with mi6. she can also now take credit for the slaughter of the 12

just like the majority of the fans, i am heartbroken even tho it was inevitable that one of them would die. It felt rushed. 4 seasons, 1 episode of them being together then in the one minute, gone. They should've explored their chemistry more throughout the 4th season as work partners hunting the 12, then eventually becoming a couple. If it happened this way, and V still died - it would've hurt bit less because V and E would've had more time together. Anyway, i also wanted to say thank you Adam, watching your genuine reactions on the Villaneve scenes made me smile and laugh - healed my broken heart for a little while. But like what you said, it ended when they hugged on the boat. 🥰

Honestly, I watched the first two episodes when they dropped and just from the quality and the direction the show seemed to be taking, I'm glad I waited to see if it would end in a tragedy like I feared it would. I agree with you a 100%, some points I would like to say cause I gotta rant 1. They ruined Carolyn's legacy. Fiona being the only lesbian actress on the show and her character was made into a villain. It made no sense for her character to do that. Pure homophobia in my opinion. And if they reallywanted a Carolyn spin off they damn well made sure no one will be watching that with this. 2. The fact that Jodie and Sandra haven't posted anything about the finale speaks volumes. They barely even promoted the finale and I can't blame them it just makes sense. In an interview Jodie was asked what she thinks about the finale and she basically says "I don't know how to feel about it to be honest" something along those lines. And if you see behind the scenes pictures of her on that boat it says a lot how she felt. She seemed very tired and also confused tbh. 3. Since the finale came out a lot of interviews are coming out with Laura Neal and Sally and some producers of the show and it clearly shows how none of them understood Jodie's and Sandra's characters. I'm not sure if it was Laura or Sally but one of them had the audacity to say that they were FRENEMIES, Laura said that that kiss is supposed to be unromatic, she also said that the part in episode 6 where Villanelle kills Helene, they wanted it to come of as if Eve wasn't turned on by the way Villanelle kills(so clearly Jodie and Sandra felt different and they did it their way). That EVE'S SCREAM AT THE END IS SUPPOSED TO BE A TRIUMPHANT SCREAM OH HER BEING HAPPY SHE CAN START A NEW LIFE. She even said she and Sandra talked about it but clearly in her brain Sandra made damn sure that it's done the correct way for Eve cause that definitely wasn't a happy scream. Also basically making sure to say that the ending was joint idea by everyone even Jodie and Sandra. Almost like saying it as if she is making sure that if the fans don't like the ending then the fans also blame them. All of those interviews just show that none of those people understood these characters except Jodie and Sandra. They did it their way cause they clearly couldn't do anything to change it so they took that bulshit of a script that they were given and made damn sure that they do it correctly for their characters. Im sure so much that was in this episode was them improvising. 4. The biggest thing is that I can't wrap my head around is the fact that apparently they had around 10 scripts for the ending and THE WRITERS ROOM THOUGHT THIS WAS THE BEST ENDING. They sat there and said " Jup thats the triumphant endingwe want" I am ready to bet that this is the worst ending out of those 10 endings Ya'll wrote. 5. Also the crew basically is taking a piss on the fans for being angry. It's just so disrespectful and atcually sad. They don't get that if they wanted a death ending they could have killed them both. No one would be saying this. Even with this shitshow of an ending if it was written properly without the feeling like it was rushed and made no sense even then we would give it the benefit of the doubt but no. It was very badly written Eve not even being able to hold Villanelle as she was dying. Hoe do they not see that leaving it off with them hugging on the boat would be the best option. I felt the way you did - I was completely stunned and broken by this ending. I was so happy that they were finally connecting, and kissing, and really being in love the way we wanted them to be, but then when they both got shot and villanelle disappeared into the depths -- that was beyond painful. I thought a better way to handle it would have them both die, or end with them hugging rather than to deal with that. Especially since Eve was just getting what she wanted finally. It’s a terrible way to end this journey we’ve all been on, and it just reminds me again of how lesbian partners are never allowed to have a happy ending, at least very rarely. I was actually surprised that Phoebe Waller Bridge and Sandra were both producers on this episode and they wouldn’t have considered these things for the fan base. I Agree with you, Adam - -The kissing was beyond belief, and you’re right - it was probably the best first kiss of any two women ever in television or movie history, because it started slow and then became playful and they were like little kids and giggling. So sad it’s over, and thank God for all the creative lesbians who have editing abilities, because there’s been some wonderful KZbin videos with their own version of the ending, right after they kissed. I think that would’ve been the best one.

Adam, the death card is about an ending with a new beginning --- the sunrise in the distance... Dude, that kiss then another and more and then while walking back to the van... Sandra and Jodie -- Queens!! Adam watching you damage your through the sheer joy of of watching their first unencumbered kiss made watching the ending again with you bearable. The Villanelle's watery blood wings with halo of the bridge's light... She had her Sun, celestial being even if was for about 10 fuc$ing hours... Damn it, this is my Clexa moment... and I am same about Carolyn... after the scene in the bar and being all buddy-buddy with V... heartbreaking. It isn't a bad ending; it is an incredibly painful one and we are all feeling Eve's pain. They could have stoped with them being shot and jumping over together. This finale is just like the last two mediocre seasons. Keeping V and E separate after the bridge scene is just bad writing and bad understanding of the plot. "Every moment in this show exists so Villanelle and Eve can end up in the same room" PWB. S3&4 showrunners didn't get it and Laura Neal's interviews just confirm it. Do you realize that we only got Villaneve scenes in the last episode? I agree that this desire and obsession had to be maintained until the last minute, but there were a thousand ways to do it than to choose this one. What a waste of such an incredible chemistry between Jodie and Sandra. It's really disappointing and frustrating.

thank you for your reactions! i've enjoyed every single one of them, you basically represent everyone when villaneve come on screen XD this show has been my life for the past three years, and the ending just...frustrates me to no end. i found it when i was struggling with my sexuality and eve and villanelle made me feel seen and represented in a way i hadnt seen on tv before. the show helped me through lockdown and covid too, and i have a tattoo dedicated to them. i'm still in shambles, but villaneve will always have a piece of my heart and i know many fans feel the same way. i've never watched the 100 or buffy or person of interest, but theyre the three shows i thought of when i'd come to terms with the ending of this one. the pain of watching a queer character you identify with die as her lover watches after finally getting everything they wanted is something i hoped i wouldnt have to deal with with this show, but now i can join you all in that pain. for me killing eve ends with them hugging on the deck of the boat, as pam has killed carolyn before she could get a sniper to fire the shot. maybe one day i will come to terms and accept the actual ending but it seems unlikely. im saddened and disappointed with the route the writers took, but its somewhat comforting knowing everyone feels the same way at least. but the kiss was everything and i havent stopped watching it. it helps a little with the pain
