Hmm given how destructive and slow these weapons are (torps) i wonder how i have heard no active defenses against them. Like how much harder it is to shoot down fast planes and especially missiles, still they are standard equipment on most ships. Yet i never heard of an anti torp mine, or gun. Given how they can be following a ship for a while like this running on the surface, one would think its pretty easy to do...

Well, there is a couple of reasons for that. A modern torpedo moves at between 45 and 55 knots in the water depending on the type (Some go faster but stick with common torps) That's around 85kph (52mph) to 100kph (62mph). This speed makes it slower than say a missile but faster than most other things in the water and able to change it's heading, both direction and depth rapidly. It's also a smart weapon capable of actively avoiding countermeasures applied against it but also able to be manually controlled by a human operator providing the wire on it is intact. But most importantly, It's underwater, This means a couple of things. First, it's impossible to track it optically so you can not see the target. It's also impossible to precision track the target as radar doesn't work underwater so you can only track its location by sonar or sound. Picture trying to aim a gun at a target moving at 100kph using only what you hear, now consider that shooting a torpedo with a gun would require you only shooting what you hear through the distortion of water. Finally, to a quick video search for guns firing into and underwater, particularly the physics of shell penetration. Shooting down a hypersonic missile is easy, you can see it visually, you can track it to within a millimetre of its location using high precision radar and it's moving so fast that course changes are very slow making target leading and or interception relatively easy. Torpedos are a nightmare weapon, you can't see them, you cant precision track them, you can't reliably lead them as they can wildly change direction and even on their own they are smart enough to understand deployed countermeasures and will actively avoid them. If it was as easy as shooting them the worlds militaries would have already dropped a few billion into special guns for just thet purpose without hesitation.

​@@lordsylph414 It's a concept that has been in a development stage for something like 50 years at this point and still doesnt have working design. Maybe one day someone will manage to get such a system working but for the moment, no they don't, no one does.
