RIP Geordie. Can't believe you are gone. I discovered Killing Joke as a young teenager with the Pandemonium album when it was released. BTATS were actually the second album i got hold of back then in Norway so it is special to me. They have an incredible catalog of albums

I was so not down on this album for decades, then Jaz sang a verse from Adorations during soundcheck in Boston in 2018 and for some reason it entirely changed my perspective not only of the song but the whole album. Got to meet Chris Kimsey around this time last year in London. There is apparently a lot of material which was recorded which didn't get released including alternative mixes. Hope it all gets to see the light of day.

One of the most effective, terrifying, enlightening, inspiring, seamless foursome ever assembled and at maximum power whenever performing. This is easily the strongest and tightest assembled for KJ. Raven-What an anchor any drummer would want. Lucky you Big Paul. And lucky us. Go see them while this world reconnects. They slay, stay in your head whenever the play, whether at the El Rey in LA or at Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, etc.

If you are wondering how Killing Joke can be such a great live band: it’s the shoulder pads. This was the best incarnation of KJ

Killing Joke .. wow. I actually love Brighter than a thousand suns. Geordies guitar is so colourful and tasteful - the songwriting is sublime during this period, quite poppy, and it suits them. I also love the mix on the album, I actually think there is a real charm to the 1980s production, and I prefer the original mix than the recently released Chris Kimsey mixes (Kimseys mix is too dry for my liking). I actually love the 80s sound, reminds me of England and Ireland in the 1980s, the rain, the half light in the grey towns and cities, the echoes of out of date adverts of yesteryear on ripped billboards that adorn the buildings. The closed retail shops. It was a hole, but it was our hole. No such thing as depression or mental health in those days, everyday existing was so grim the only thing to do was to to look forward in hope. If you stopped for one minute and observed your surroundings, you'd be a goner. There was always the future to look forward to. Hope. Adorations was the soundtrack to that hope.

Nightime and Brighter are masterpieces. I freaking love those records. More than the previous ones even.

The '86 Mix had a wonderful, gothic atmosphere that's sadly missing in the Restored Mix. With that said , I still prefer the Restored Mix because it sounds more like a proper Killing Joke album.

I like both mixes personally. I'm more used to the original since I heard that one a lot more but the restored mixes feature Geordie's guitar much more prominantly in the mix so I've come to love those mixes just as much..

Hey Delhi, Jaz and Killing Joke don't "Dabble".The Band take the Magickal Side of things very Seriously indeed. They Formed out of a Ritual Working back in 1978 after all. Having spent some time hanging out with them, I can tell You they are absolutely Sincere about The Occult World view they express in their Music. They are just as aware of the Realpolitik on the ground~ bullets, bombs, and barbed wire...how many other Bands consistently deal, at that depth, with unpalatable Truths whilst offering solutions? 40 years fighting on Their own terms? Not bad eh?

How do you reckon you can replace this rhythm section and turn into an Alice Cooper solo/Depeche Mode dabbling in the occult chimera , and get away with it has got one explanation and one explantion only - mid/late 80s : ´The Escobar Years`.

I haven't found anymore of this one, but there is a full set from Italian tv also '86, with three more from Brighter Than A Thousand Suns (Love of the Masses, Twilight of the Mortal and Rubicon). In case you or anyone else out there is looking, can't get enough of their shows from 85 and 86.

Awful sound of fake electronic drums, why didn't Ferguson use a normal drums instead of hitting on a electronic drums. the sound of this new wave is so cheap, the horror of the mid 1980s. And this wave keyboard à la love like blood which drowns Geordie's guitar is annoying. fortunately, 4 years later in 1990, they released an edgy and vibrant double LP. Raven bass sound is weird too, it is as if he was slapping the cords, this is a ugly sound

fuck you, I freakin love this era. Geordie arpeggios fly with those keyboards in the back. new wave and dark wave were amazing in the 80s. You can have 400000000 videos with normal drums. This is gold.
