The interesting thing about that line is that multiple mass murderers have said that before. The most recent I can think of was that James Homes the Batman movie theatre shooter. He purposely wore earbuds with the volume maxed so he didn’t have to hear people screaming while he shot them

That’s just economics. The whole film is a metaphor for 2008, how they initially tried to blame the same exact thing that caused a crisis in 2004, Wall Streets placing risky bets, while the true culprits were the banks who lied about the underlying risk factors and who created the increasingly risky products to be bet on in the first place. Not only that, the blame should really be on the SEC who loosened regulations regarding net capital and leverage limits, pretty much paid off by the financial institutions to do so. WallStreet investors symbolize the Ray Liotta character, who was responsible for the last one so obviously they tried to shift the blame solely on him this time, throwing him to the sharks knowing that something else entirely is the root of the crisis/robbery.
