Great video but I do have a question. My garden is 20 feet long and the last eight feet have become overrun with a variety of weeds but especially nut sedge. If I solarize (and I love the idea) won't the runners move over into the areas I don't have covered with plastic? And will the plastic kill the "nuts"? My fear is the nut sedge will simply come back given time.

Nut sedge is tough. Solarizing has helped for me, but it may take a few attempts. Cover and kill what can, then pull back the plastic and flip your soil and cover again to bring the remaining nuts closer to the surface so they can sprout and then get solarized. When you do start growing again be sure to immediately remove any nut sedge that sprouts up.

@@fieldtrippin1 Flipping th soil is a great idea. I was reading somewhere about screening all your soil to capture the nutlets but I was thinking man, that might be a bridge too far. Be thankful you don't have ground cherry, no way to get rid of that beast as it has a root that goes to China but the end of it splits in two tiny pieces so it almost always breaks off when you're digging it out and it comes back.
