This makes so much sense. Thank you. My monstera monkey leaf is very sad. I gave it a prune earlier that day and repotted it in a way smaller pot. The roots are so small. Mistakes have been made. I've put the cuttings into a glass with water and soon it will have a nice growing light. It grew extremely long with only a handful of leaves. Everything will be better from now on. I've learned so much during the last two weeks and I thought, I know this or that about plants. One can never know enough! Thank you so much for this video. I'll buy a Deliciosa later this year and maybe I should show it your videos.

I also had to tape it up prop it, and then opted to extend the gallon freezer bag with another bag taped beneath that one once it pried its way out the bottom of the first one. Question: Those are huge stems for that small pot and you fit 2 in there! How do you keep the pot from not tipping over from the weight of the top leaves AND how long did you keep them in that pot? They wouldn't get too crowded?! Thank you!!
@KillThisPlant2 ай бұрын
I repotted this into a larger space around 6 months later, but smaller pots really help the roots establish by avoiding root rot. I guess they dont tip because I balance the position well, the plants aren't as heavy as the soil, or you could put the pot in a heavier outer pot.
@Nclk6194 ай бұрын
I just placed a bucket on the floor and guides the aerial roots I wanted inside. No need for all that at all. Monsteras can be always have the aerial roots in a container with water. They love it and grow huge leaves. Specially after your monstera is too big for its pot but you have no room anymore but still have hight. I wish I could post a picture of my monstera here.
@KillThisPlant4 ай бұрын
@@Nclk619 the best part of air layering is that the roots are already transitioned to a soil like medium making their final new pot much easier. Water propagation while still attached is also fine but I would recommend you get the bucket as close to the stem as possible. That way there is less root mass adjusted to open air. Making an even more challenging transition to soil.
@Nclk6194 ай бұрын
@@KillThisPlant makes sense, but you can just do it with soil instead of water. So far I never had any problem with transitioning any cuttings. Finger crossed here lol. As for the part that is not adjusted to being submerged, when I pot in soil I leave that part out and only the roots go in soil. After the stem have cured, I then burry the stem too. Air layering if not done right can cause fungus. My father had an arsenal when he was doing anything to his fruit trees that involved bringing moist next to the trunks. He also told me about sugars being interrupted, but I would have to research it since I don't remember everything about it. I was just a stupid teen that didn't listes. 😂
