this version is better, tbh. a lot more savage to give the heart back after he's died than to just crush it. crushing it is boring and overdone, no offense to togashi. in this case the censorship actually improved things lmao

@@MonAhgasInsomniAroELF Nah...maybe you didn't read the original manga. The picture of Killua squeezing his heart was so beautiful that it can't be compared to the anime. I think the idea of giving the heart back is OK. But the worst thing about this version is that it doesn't look like a heart at all. Poor drawing ruined everything.

i love the way they did this scene compared to the manga and 1999 versions, killua holding the piece of shirt all daintily and then gently plopping it back on johness's hand after he collapses was an adorable touch. it honestly comes across as more savage than just crushing it, because it makes him seem so much more indifferent to the whole thing, like it wasn't even worth getting his hands dirty over.

yesss i've always thought that too. people who are so into the blood and gore are short-sighted. the idea of things, the shadow/silhouette on the wall losing its head, setting the heart back in the dead guy's hand after tearing it out, etc are so much more poetic, and in some cases, more chilling than just seeing the bloodshed outright. honestly in most cases the censorship for this show improved the scenes. there's only like one scene the censorship made a bit harder to understand, but even then it's not that big a deal. the violence isn't what makes the show good, and it's a shame that some people are so obsessed with it.

make sense, in most country, it would be consider adult, so i originally tought he was 17 because of that scene where they talk about dinking age and he said drinking age was 16 in some country, which imply he was at least 16, but not an adult, but japan drinking and adult age is 20, so he's a teenager by the japanese law

Yeah when I was in highschool I had a friend who was the size of a linebacker and guess what? he played football. Most boys grow to their full height by 16. Rarely do you keep growing beyond that.

damn lol , for me i was 2-3 inches shorter when i was 16. I never had bad growth pains but I was extremely late at growing! i was about 5 feet all through 8th grade , didn't grow then that summer i grew two inches and by end of freshman year I was 5 "6 then by 16 I was lik 5"8

I know this is an old reaction, but I haven’t seen anyone clarify it in the comments so I’mma say something: Leroute’s crimes were censored in this version, apparently she was originally a psychologist who would manipulate her patients into “unaliving” themselves, which is a bit worse than illegal gambling and animal smuggling, and a lot more relevant to her approach to defeating Leorio

Yes, I watched the ori version long time ago. The prisoner still alive for second cuz the blood vessels still connected with the heart. And when killua crushed it, he died. It's so raw, and my childhood self still uncomfortable with that scene. But it's super cool...lmao

And honestly what does squishing it even accomplish? It makes killua look more like a brute then a skilled assassin and its not like squishing his heart "kills him harder" than removing it does.

Wanted for the convict to not be able to grasp something in his final moments like how he kept emphasizing his 'grasp' with his hands about the victims.

Ugh.... while I love HxH, with the 2011 run, they really rushed all the old material and skipped over some of the darker, slower paced elements. They rectified this toward the end of the previously animated material, but the censoring and skipping of details that really solidifies everyone's character is what gets to me. If you get the chance, and you're able to find it, you should absolutely watch the 1999 version and the OVA's in your own time when you're done. This scene in particular had me nearly drop the new anime adaption because I was SO looking forward to seeing it in what was then, modern glory.

When you're freaked out about Killua, you SHOULD be freak out about Gon. He is all smiles but don't make him mad. I guess in a few episodes you would know what will happen if you do. (Well he won't kill, guaranteed). And GON acts so nonchalant about Killua being a part of an Assassin clan, watching Killua take a human heart out of it's body. And just be cool about it. That's totally absurd even if you say Gon is not that deep.
