Amazing kiln load here! This has to be my favorite!! I really love the big bowl with the copper on the back. I know how the pinging just drives us crazy. Hoping it was just the copper. Lol. Wonderful pots as always.

Another fantastic kiln opening Julia, the blue and copper bowl is absolutely fantastic. I use an underglaze pencil and number each individual piece on the base then have the corresponding number on my glaze notes, I find it helps when checking what the glaze combos are. Well done, looking forward to seeing the fish glazed.

Hi Derek, lovely to hear from you, thankyou so much. Yes you are absoright and very organised. I used to be but feeling far more free flow atm. Numbering them is a good idea though as they all look very similar 😄

I am still not sure on the glaze for gluggly feeling like I might like the spectrum Kim chi or sangria as their test tiles are fish but slightly worried about drippage as not used them before and believe them to be runners. I might do another piece in the spectrum first but that would delay it. I'm not good at these decisions 😅

@@ceramicsbyjulia8552 try the glazes on another piece first to check how they run before committing to gluggy, better off to wait and be sure.

Some really lovely blues and greens here! Yer some finishes do depend on 'glaze fit' with different clay bodies .....I learnt this the hard way 😮‍💨but non the less a good lesson. Crawling can also be a problem with too many coats exposing the bare clay. As a rule, 3 good Mayco coats I have found perfect but will vary on glaze brands. love the toasty effect with the dark clay and yummy drips happening. The sets will run out the door Julia too! xx

Hi lovely, thankyou 💗 yes glaze clay fit is a pottery issue we all face, there are so many ways in which it can go wrong. As a rule I stick to 3 coats on outsides maybe 4 for some Amaco and 2 for some mayco but inside my bowls I am playing and experimenting to see what happens and that means sometimes errors happen 🤣 seems to happen more on the white which is interesting. Going to see if I can get similar effects with 1 less layer but that won't stop the dunting if it wants to happen. Only had crawling once thankfully and that was with clayscapes cream which for me was not a nice glaze. I am tempted to keep the set, I just love them all and may have to stare at them a while before letting them go 🤣 xx

Hi Nat I didn't write it down as was right at the end of my little Tuesday group but I'm sure it is 2 raspberry mist then 1 Amaryllis with quite a few chunks as was from bottom of the bottle and then 1 pink gloss on top. That was fired at my community kiln a slow 1210°c with a 30 minute gold at the top. So quite a hot firing ❤️

Julia it is so beautiful every piece you made. The one with the copper outside is indeed a champ. But, al your pieces are actually. Julia why does a glaze fired object ping? My bowls and vases do that too and i always wondered why. September last year was my last glazed works firing and still today every few days they ping. Soon i will get a new glaze firing done. My production is not very high as i make for hobby only. I find the pinging sound kinda funny. Succes with your work, looking forward to see more of you. Greetz Sheila From the Netherlands

Hi Sheila, lovely to hear from you. Thankyou so much, yes I love then all too. The ongoing is actually bad clay glaze fit apparently, however like you I have pieces that still do pings from 2 years ago. I rarely get a quiet piece. Would love to see your pieces from your new glaze firing 😊 thankyou so much for all your support 🙏
