Tiffany, I am in the process of moving my craft room from the spare room to my living room. We never use the living room anyway. I live in Southern CA. Even in the winter we sit outside! lol! Anyway, you have me so excited to get it done now. I want to play so bad! Thanks for the inspiration! You and Mikki! I tell ya!

Fab video! I have always found designer liner pops off if it’s too thickly applied. Slip trailing works better or underglaze for me. :)
@hobblecreekpotteryАй бұрын
@JoanneMcLintock Thank you. I'm beginning to think I need to thin mine down. That might be some of the problem too.

Was there a line on the inside of your casserole dish that you did not glaze to keep the lid from sticking. It is just beautiful.

This was a fabulous kiln opening!!! I have a question on the tree on the top shelf. I don’t see a seam so how did you get the impressions in the clay? It’s so much fun to see how excited you get over your students’ work. My late husband’s birthday was November 24 so i think it’s a wonderful day to be born!
@hobblecreekpotteryАй бұрын
@marycarolyn1293 Ahh, it will be a wonderful day to be born. I rolled the texture over the seam to hid it.
@marycarolyn1293Ай бұрын
@ Thsnks! I’ve wondered how you did that for a while.

I just want to say you look so cute in that cool shirt with your hair. I love this kiln opening! The angels are so sweet! Even though you were disappointed in the gnome plates, I love them. I did a test tile of Holly Green on the Speckled Buff and I wasn’t impressed. How tall are the kiln posts you put your ornaments on? I have several Christmas trees drying that I followed your tutorial. Thanks so much!!!!!
@hobblecreekpotteryАй бұрын
@lorit5074 Yeah, Holly Green is much prettier in bmix. My posts are as high as 6 inches, and then I go down from there depending on how tall the ornaments are.

treasure trove of goodies, i love a kiln opening, you never know what your going to get till you open it. The donut Mikkie made i made a donut to using the ring shape, cant remember proper name and glazed with slip dots as sprinkles and a pink glaze over the top, both looked good enough to eat. The pretty pink angles are lovely, maybe your new grandchild if its a little girl she could have one for her 1st christmas, we always said with my daughter, who arrived 6 weeks early, that someone mentioned Christmas as she didn't want to miss out. Her birth date was meant to be 01.01.01which was cool but.....she will be 24 on Tuesday 26th November.

white liner always seems finicky. I did add a bit of darvan 7 to a thick black and it worked great. Worth a try

As a past instructor for Mayco, low fire was my specialty, the designer liner is a thickened version of the stroke and coat. You might have better luck with the regular stroke and coat with two applications. Less thick and better adhesion. If you still have problems call technical support at Mayco and let them know as watching your kiln openings this is an ongoing problem and they may have better solutions.

Your gnome dishes are adorable and that’s so frustrating when the glaze and kiln don’t play nice. The firebrick might look nice around the edge
