Cleaning spats, oy! Back in boot camp in the mid-late 80's, we used Dreft or similar powder detergent and a generous amount of elbow grease with a scrub brush and cold water to get those clean.

The crossed white ribbon is the white cockade, the white rose. Blue has been the national colour of Scotland for a long period. The blue bonnet itself goes back at least into the 16th century. There was a guild of Bonnet makers here in Edinburgh by 1599. So yes the blue bonnet, from very light almost grey blue to dark royal blue is a very historical garment more historical and older than kilts themselves.

There's a great range available. Tunnocks tea cakes, snowballs and crumpets. HEAVEN. The mystery id the Clootie Dumpling. A food that seem to keep forever. Surprising as it disappears from our table within 10 minutes! A cloot is cloth. My granny used a pillow case to make it, placing the mix in a corner. It came out of the witches cauldron and was placed in front of the real fire. It had a hard heat dry and appeared as a brown coloured steaming woman's breast. It tasted great, but would feel like lead in your stomach. Great videos, during lockdown I really need the laughs in Glasgow.

Awhile back a usa firm took over cadburys chocalte and changed the recepie in amount of milk used in the cadburys creme egg. it caused an up raw lol. so i guess the main differance between our chocalate to American is probably the amount of milk we use.Love the Show.

Main difference is that in the UK they regulate the minimum level of cocoa, but the differences are even bigger from US to German chocolate

British Turkish delight vs Canadian Turkish delight is a huge difference. The center Turkish delight tastes like dish soap. Canadian takes like swedish fish candy

"The Isle of Skye tartan is so beautifully done in Scotland" And England, if you're not just counting Lochcarron. Since Marton Mills is in Yorkshire. Don't get me wrong, plenty of us have at some point considered what it would be like to move the political border southwards and include much of the North of England in the same political entity as Scotland, separate from the south, but I don't think that's realistically going to happen.

I got mine off Amazon only because I couldn't find it anywhere else at the time. The leather is fairly thin, (Cheap) For $20.00, you get what you pay for but it serves it's purpose. Or, you could call or E-mail the guys at USA Kilts and make inquiries, I'm sure they could help. I'm sure that the leather will be thicker (better quality) too.

A question for everyone from an American patriot. Concealed carry / open carry / gear ? In my opinion the one thing that Scott's and Americans/ American Scott's have in common is Freedom. I would like a polite and respectful discussion on this topic . Stay free and kilted brothers

We get Twix, Mars, Snickers - formerly Marathon, you can keep Hershey's, yuk! PpppPick up a Penguin as the add goes. Get that Mars bar in batter an in the frier for a taste of Glasgow. You should have got Club biscuits, Yorkie bars - chunky man-size chock bar. Hershey's did buy Cadbury's the biggest Chocolate snack company in the UK, not all of us agreed to this. My buddy has type 2 and he can't eat much candy and he has Mars bars in the fridge he cuts in slices for when he has a hypoglycemic attack. Milky way here must be different - as I'd say Mars is far denser. Was Jack Daniel a Welsh guy? Okay, Welsh or Cymraig is their second language, English the first. Unless you're English and then they will pretend they don't understand you. Lava Bread is a traditional Welsh dish as are mutton dishes. Lardy Cake I think had it's beginnings in Cornwall/Kernow and Wales/Cymru.

Diced Vs Plain headware: historically, the dicing was used in the British military's Scottish regiments to indicate a Catholic regiment. Over the years, as various regiments amalgamated, this became a moot point and, as I understand it, whether companies within the Highland Regiment wear the dicing today is simply based on the uniform of their last generation ancestral regiment prior to the overall amalgamation.

I disagree a Polo is considered semi dress aswell it speaks of businessman on vacation or its too hot to wear my suit so Polo. So I'd wear semi dress sporran with semi dress Polo. Also my kilt is dark it really only shows up, In the sun so the lighter fur stands out better and I haven't found a brown sporran that I liked.

The comparisons here seem to be proving once again that most men have no real sense of taste- there is in fact quite a difference in flavours between each of those compared products. I'll also mention that as someone who grew up in Canada, we eagerly looked forward to trips to the USA so we could by American candy and get away from the often awful British tradition stuff.
