This song is about her mother, who is suffering from alzheimers... she mentioned how her mother would often loose track of time as her memory faded and would often ask her children "are you mine?" There is an interview from 2009 on the internet where you can find the quote. The song has a really touching and personal meaning when you put the pieces together.

I had the pleasure of speaking to your mom at your 2001 show at the Congress Theatre in Chicago when she mentioned she was was "the breeder of The Breeders" My eyes tear. I sat in the back of the theater for about two minutes and chatted with her. She gave me a hug I have to say I have only felt an absolute earthquake of love and pride from only a handful of people in my life. Your mom was without doubt at the top of that list. kim deal is a super star of indie music. with a strong back catalogue of recording behind her you can dip into any of her material from any time period and find absolute gems. these gems can range from cool as fuck indie rocker songs to something than can be achingly beautiful, timeless and precious . the above mentioned song I think is another glowing example of that .

This song always takes me back to a specific time and place; an unusually frigid winter, which was only granted levity, mostly in retrospect, through finding great songs like this and one or two good friends. Thanks Kim and everyone involved here. This is very special. If i had to listen to it without knowing what it's about, i'd say it sounds like truth, even if i don't know what the truth is. Maybe it's the emotion coming through. I don't know how many takes you did but it sounds like the very first one. And listening to it knowing the story behind it, well... It's achieving what Reed's heroin did when conveying the emotional aspect of an experience. When you know about it, the song hits you hard.

It's great that Kim is still making beautiful music. her quiet songs are my favorites. lullabies like likkle more, are you mine, beautiful moon. and with the breeders: pinnacle hollow, off you, and others. And her rockers too, cannonball, huffer, saints, divine hammer, and more. i like when she does those cover songs too, like Archangel Thunderbird, which are very hard to try and cover with only a 4 people band

Wauw, just wauw. I guess you're not from the Netherlands? Frank did not capitalize, he was honouring Herman Brood with a tribute album. Yes he made poor choices, yes he was a dopehead, but he also left an enormous legacy as an multi diciplinair artist. From his early years with cuby and the blizzards till he chose to jump of the hilton in Amsterdam. He was so much more than his media personality, he was a pure honoust artist who made a lot of stupid decisions throughout his life but still created so much great art! And no, i have no originals hanging on my wall, but i will never underestimate his unique personality, his music, his art and his legacy. The world will never have a second frank black an also never a second herman brood.

Just stumbled upon this gem. I'm not a huge Pixie fan, but I like some of their music. Nirvana definitely got a lot of their style from the Pixies, no doubt! I don't remember Kim doing anything this soft and beautiful; her voice is so lovely here. I hope she makes more songs like this, I know now it's about her mother's struggle with Alzheimer's, but if you listen, it seems like it could encompass other mental frailties that we as humans can suffer or succumb to. I hope to hear other music like this! If there are any other songs Kim has done like this, someone please enlighten me. gorgeous song!!! Thanks Kim!!!!!
