Wow, I must have become really used to Junsu over the years, but I just came from a comparison of VIXX' Leo and ZE:A Park Hyung Sik (who I both like) rehearsing TOD. The step up in vocals, stage presence, and charisma of Junsu is no freaking joke!

I do not know anything about the original performance of this musical but... is it wrong for me to be so in love with Junsu oppa after watching this? I mean, I know how he really is, being the innocent guy and an angel and a dork... but this? I was completely speechless from the beginning of the video and was like, "Is this really Junsu oppa?" at the end. Whew! His laugh!
@aktfalwaysfaithtech28018 жыл бұрын
+Shekinah Gracia Emor Linang Well that's not his real laugh, beside it's theatre life.
@shikiynah078 жыл бұрын
AKTF Always Faith Tech I know! That's why it gave me goosebumps when he did it. I mean, yeah. He's totally different in every role he's playing :D
@aktfalwaysfaithtech28018 жыл бұрын
+Shekinah Gracia Emor Linang I find people who can act another person then themselve, is pretty interesting. Junsu is the prefect example for theatre in real life he's sweet like an angel, but in theatre he's dark and mysterious. Well you know what I mean. Maybe this year 2016 he'll get maybe like dark detective like L in 2015 Death Note or maybe mysterious like Dracula 2014.
@shikiynah078 жыл бұрын
AKTF Always Faith Tech Now it's not a dark role anymore but Dorian! omg I didn't even imagine him playing in that musical but yeah, he's Kim Junsu! :D

To be true, I like his solo stuff (musicals, solo career...) way more than doing stuff with JYJ. Don't get me wrong, he does an amazing job in with the other 2 band members too and I totally like JJ and YC, but he kinda explodes with energy when he does HIS THING. I think he can express himself so much better as a solo artist than being in a group. I don't know if that makes any sense XD

I am a fan of this guy. Been following since TVXQ were kids. They are all very talented. I am in Texas and just an old cosmic kicker. Their agents must not realize just how popular K-Pop is becoming in the U.S., and how much we like a good rock opera over here.

The original version of Tod was a little more masculine, but also meant to reflect an ethereal, youthful quality. This, however, is clearly influenced by the Japanese Takarazuka productions of Elisabeth, in which the entire production is performed by women. Actually, this production is kind of a fascinating blend of the two interpretations.

I want to buy his musical DVDs eventually, but I'm a student and they are too expensive for me right now. (Also, Yesia says the Mozart DVD is out of print). And, I do support him buy buying his albums with extra money I get from birthdays and work. I own Tallantallegra, Incredible, and Flower. I also own The Beginning and Just Us by JYJ along with all their DBSK full albums from the days of 5 (I've been collecting for the past few years). I thinking of trying to start buying his musicals maybe after I get some extra money from my birthday this year, but I still don't know if I will have enough money after paying for my classes, gas, food, phone, etc. I do want to own his musicals, but I would like to go ahead and watch them until I can afford them. I'm thinking of trying to get Elizabeth first.

uhhh, excuse me, i just wanted to say that i'm a korean and i haven't been successful in finding a dvd of this production. korean muscial companies are so weird - they have all these good things going on and they hardly make a live dvd recording for them. i do have a live recording album but that's just mp3 - no video in it.

I love Junsu's vocal, it's so powerful ;;-;; However because I've watched the original version for so many times, his acting here just seems a bit out of character. Der Tod should be harsher and colder, giving the audience a feeling of superiority. To me, Junsu's actions and movements are too soft (I don't know how to describe this but it just feel wrong somehow). Perhaps that's because they changed details when they remade the musical ;;-;;
@amisujun35047 жыл бұрын
Alright, you have your own opinion, but what is actually an original? they are a lot of artists played in the same role in the same musical or another stage performances. But every actor have their own unique style”. That's way someone says It's quite easy to imitate a character or even an emotion, but where's the depth in that? And composer of the Musical Elizabeth Mr. Sylvester Levay self praised Kim Junsu, saying : “I was shocked to see Kim Junsu leading scene by scene. At times he was scary, at times he was dark. He pulled the performance away with charisma as he circled around Elisabeth like an animal. Kim Junsu’s performance was so perfect and I am very satisfied.” (see: mwave.interest.me/en/kpop-news/article/45318/kim-junsu-wraps-up-elisabeth ) If a composer of the original musical satisfied with Junsu’s performance, what about you and me? Do we have to say more…? Sorry, I’m not saying that you don’t have a right to say your opinion, but I’m just saying Every Actor Have Their Own Unique Style!
@lilyevans60467 жыл бұрын
I know we all have our own opinions so it's understandable that we favours different actors. I too know that Junsu was very successful playing this role Der Tod, but it's because I see the character in a different way than you do so I don't like Junsu's interpretation much. Also, the original version I mentioned is the Wien 1992 version, which was the first year the musical was performed, so yeah it has the original German cast. Thank you for replying me. Everyone has their own taste, so everyone has their favourite Der Tod. Let's not talk further about who's better at playing Der Tod, or else this conversation might never end ;)
@minhlehong91867 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, Uwe Kröger is always my fav 'Der Tod'.

Ami Sujun All art is subjective! Musicals, paintings, sculptures.I've seen 4 dif productions of "Jesus Christ Superstar" 1 was w/the original lead, Ted Neeley from the movie in '73. Although he was beyond amazing,I preferred 1 @ a community college! 1 opinion is Def not better than another (I think Junsu being an idol, might be be a little bit of an influence).He's an extraordinary singer(a man,not an angel on earth ☺)His voice phenomenal! In his solo concerts, he kills w/ballads,dance songs, & has some VERY s£xy songs & dancing. Something for every taste! 🎤🎶🎼 💕

No matter how much you hate ppl, saying Junsu voice is gross is the worst joke you can make, and if he clearly suck at his job then he won't receive an award as best musical actor. His name is Junsu / XIA, feel free to know his other works before you claim how suck he is at his job. May you have a peace live dear friend.
@Toniaj8511 жыл бұрын
What's delusional about calling out a hater? Commenting that someone's voice is "gross" is not an opinion...its being a HATER. Saying that you don't like his singing is not. See the difference? Or are you delusional enough to call it "creative criticism"? #1Hater rule: If someone calls you out as a hater than their a fangirl and you're just stating your "opinion." Bye bye hater!

Junsu was right on parr with the German production when it came to vocals, his theatrics were alright not as raw and intense. But Elizabeth was bad, she was completely stiff and lifeless as a block. Not judging as KPOPer but as a theater lover, she was lifeless. If was a performance like what she just gave, I could play Elizabeth.
