I agree.Many people considered him an asshole, because he gave the impression of being rude.I always thought he was very smart and could see through people's bullshit.He couldn't wait to mock someone, but that only happened when his guests were obviously less smart and not interesting at all.I have to say that my fav moments were when he was impressed by some of the stars he interviewed, because he appreciated people who were smart and funny.
