Single moms do this all the time, so don't be too hard on this woman. They are stressed and are not thinking wisely. My single mother gave away all her children to strangers, except the last child she had when she eventually married after 6 children. This child was her golden child and she would never think of giving him away to strangers. She tried to give me away when I was maybe 9 or 10 to a complete stranger; but thank God the woman said my eyes were too dry, so she did not want me. By dry eyes I think she meant I was too much for her to beat into subjection, something along those lines. I am now 72 and that encounter is seared into my memory. I pretty much brought up myself with the help of Jesus, to whom I gave my life when I was 9 years old. I am sure that is what saved me from a terrible life. God has been my father, mother, brother, sister; he has saved me and protected from countless dangers and given me a very successful life.
