Thank you Kim! Your debut disc and Jude Cole's "Start The Car" helped me break free of a very long toxic relationship. It was a very difficult decision and impact on my soul and life. I played both for a long time in my work vehicle and at home back in 1995/96/97. BTW.......I still have all your discs and Jude Cole's in my beloved Pioneer multi-disc player from the 1990s (which works as well today as it did in 1996). ❤

A great singer and a song who Nashville never got. She had the misfortune of coming out the same time as Shania Twain.

I got to hear this on the radio when it came out in 1995. I was 13 and addicted to country radio before it turned to garbage. Only heard it once, they never played it again because Shania and all those generic cookie cutter tarts hit the scene shortly thereafter, but Ms. Richey had herself a loyal fan from the start with this one. You rock, my lady, you simply rock!

I don't like pop country at all, but I've always loved her sound. It's got that folk feel to it that is in a lot of local bands here in Atlanta. And most "die hard" country fans around here who dismiss her don't even realize she wrote some of the biggest hits they listen to all the time.
@mattbingham28564 жыл бұрын
this is not pop country!
@morganvachon4 жыл бұрын
@@mattbingham2856 Wow...8 years later, a wild comment appears. According to Kim herself it is pop country, mainstream artists are who she mostly wrote for back then. But the definition of "pop country" has changed over the 30+ years she's been writing so by today's standards you're right. And for the record, I didn't intend it as a slight when I called it "pop" back then, merely an observation. Her music is timeless and holds up today, as all good music is and does.

Professor Firefly yep that's why I don't do country anymore. Kind of died in the early 90s for me. Rock is pretty much dead. Classic rock stations? A joke. Everything is chain restaurants, Wal-Mart and mega radio today.
