the variety show with Jin and the dead skin cells - he was asked by the guys sitting to give a Daegu sartoori (slang) insult.... so Jin spoke and Tae gave the sartoori insult which cracked everyone up. He wasn't being intentionally rude to his hyung Jin - it was all in fun for the show.

When we say BTS is not a typical boy band/group, there are many reasons for that and one of those is their brotherhood/friendship. Their bond is really amazing. You will understand what I mean once you know them more. And Jimin and V are best friends who are friends since their high school days (more than 10 yrs of friendship). Every member of BTS have this different yet caring bond with each other and vmin (V and Jimin) are no exception. Their friendship is everything you can ask for. They diss each other alot but also have ultimate respect for each other. They are a successful band of more than 8 yrs and have their individual apartments but still all 7 of them shares one apartment like in their debut days (of course more spacious now). BTS friendship is top notch. And Jin is the oldest (1992 liner), Suga second oldest (1993). Jhope and RM are 1994 liners. Both Jimin and V are 95 liners. V is second youngest (1995) and Jungkook is the youngest(1997). 💜

They're very affectionate towards each other, they openly confess that they like each other the most in the group, and openly telling each other "you are my soulmate" multiple times everywhere. And they're around the same age too, that's why they feel so free to joke, tease or roast each other without being afraid of looking impolite, since age is a very important part of korean society. They even have a very beautiful song together called "friends", which was written by Jimin. The lyrics literally talk about their beautiful friendship and include their signature phrase, "you are my soulmate" in it. And now the song is picked as the OST of the latest Marvel movie. That's just so wholesome. VMIN is honestly one of the most beautiful, sincere and heartfelt friendship I've ever witnessed in my entire life. They make me believe again that soulmates still do exist in this day and age. Watch videos of VMIN moments and you'll probably cry.

So I think you might think that V is mean but he is not. He just have a very dry humor like Suga. Idk how to explain it but he doesn’t do it to be mean that’s why you see the other members just laughing cuz they know how he is. Especially the last bit with Jin, in the variety show. They kinda mention that Daegu, where both Suga and V are from, that's kinda the general vibe/ personality you see. Kinda savage. Very much a stereotype, it's not everyone lol, but you know we have stereotypes for ppl from different cities or states 😊 But yeah, Taehyung is hilarious bc he can be like this, but can also be so so sweet I had not seen that clip from bon voyage, with Namjoon and Hobi !!! 😮😅 And as others said, he does it a lot with Jimin Because of how close they are and how comfortable they are with each other, especially being born in the same year, it allows for more closeness sometimes.

The dead skin part was part of the show where the hosts asked them to speak dialect so V and Jin were doing a short situation play he didn’t really mean that lol And also there are sentences that can turn out real savage because of the translation, but a lot of these are just things we say between close friends especially the “reflect yourself” part. For your info: Hyung is a korean word which means "older brother", Which is usually used by younger males to address an elder male. So whenever you see a BTS member calling the other "hyung", it means he is younger.. Similarly the word "Oppa" is used by Females to address an older male...

Jin is the oldest, V is actually the second to last, JK is the youngest of them all. V and Jimin are often called 'Vmin', they have a strong friendship, they've known each other for years now, studied at school together, having the same age they went through the same things together which bonded them so closely that today they consider each other to be soulmates (they've said it many times), nothing romantic, but really only in the aspect of the connection of two souls that comprehend each other on a deeper level. Tae is 2nd youngest in BTS but the oldest in his own family. He has a younger sister & brother. Namjoon & Jimin are also the oldest in their families. Namjoon has a younger sister & Jimin a younger brother. The other 4 BTS members are all the youngest in their families. Jin went from growing up as the youngest of three to the oldest of 7 💜🥰

So there's some complex cultural nuance going on here. In the band, the age order is Jin > Suga > JHope > RM > Jimin > V > Jungkook. JHope and RM share a birth year, 1994. Jimin and V share a birth year, 1995. So they are "same age friends". In Korean culture, a same year friend is the closest kind of friend. They share all the same relevant experiences and you grow together doing all the same things. Suga spoke once about being a little sad he didn't have a same age friend, and Jin softly reminded him that although they don't share the same year, they are only 3 months apart. That's why Suga and Jin do things together like cook for the younger ones, or go fishing. Where it gets tricky is in how they each function not in the BTS family, but their actual families. Jin, Suga, JHope, and Jungkook are all the youngest in their families. The maknae, or baby, in a family is looked upon as cute and able to get away with a little bit more. RM, Jimin, and V are all oldest. For RM, it's a little awkward to be the leader and yet he's dead middle of the pack when it comes to age. But he's used to being a leader in his family, and the ones older than him aren't...so there wasn't a huge power struggle there. And then we get to Jimin and V. Not only is V the oldest in his family, he's the oldest cousin. He's used to a certain power dynamic in his family. You can clearly see this at play when Jin and V fought in "Burn the Stage". V "lowered" his speech to the informal when he was angry, and Jin got hurt a little by that. Jimin gently reminds V "I make a lot of mistakes too, but you shouldn't forget he's older than you". This gives V the chance to apologize for what he did. V says "I acted selfishly. I talked to you with an attitude." He means "I forgot my place. You're the oldest. I tried to throw around my family weight and it's not okay for me to do that here." And Jin says "Yeah, I disregarded you. I didn't listen...but I'm older than you and the way you spoke down to me like I'm younger hurt my pride. I've never tried to throw my weight around as the oldest.
