TaeYeon's voice sounds more trained/controlled and easier for ears. Demi Lovato's voice sounds like more "born with it" talent, maybe more straining vocal cord. Less pleasing to my ears, to be honest.

They both have very different vocal types, demi is a belter meaning she excels in really high notes whereas Taeyeon is more soft with her vocals but still registers the high notes effortlessly without sounding like she's shouting all the time which sometimes demi sounds like. I think a better comparison would have been Ailee vs Demi since Ailee belts a lot too and Taeyeon should be compared to Adele who belts too but also does ballads I believe which Taeyeon completely excels in with emotion and power without much effort.

TaeYeon : Better Technique Demi : Better range (low notes?) Just look at Taeyeon and listen . Her jaw is completely relaxed . She sings with an open throat and IS resonant for most of her high notes . And she 'rings' . That performance of holy night was beautiful . Her voice is soft and angelic , yet so powerful . Then you got Demi who seems more like a christina Aguilera to me Christina Aguilera : Powerful Vocals .Terrible technique . Literally screams on top of her lungs . Not as appealing. But Demi does have great-ish technique.

Demi can't hold notes all too well, 95% of her notes shown here show her holding the note for milliseconds, and on the 5% of times where she held a note, you could hear her throat giving in by the end of it, even then the notes weren't held for nearly as long as Taeyeon. On top of that, her shouting "yeah!" and suchlike, doesn't constitute a note, and I don't know why these are included in "vocal battles" and "____'s vocal range" videos in general, not just this one. I much prefer Taeyeon, her notes are clean, extended and are just more pleasant all-round.

Naturally Demi has a stronger voice than Taeyeon so her notes come off better and more delivered than Taeyeon's voice. Vocal range wise Taeyeon can hit the notes better especially with Head Voice but Demi's voice is still stronger. Talent wise Taeyeon's technique is better but Demi has the better tone and power. If you wanted to do a comparison between two similar voices I'd pick Ailee and Demi since they both have the power.

Both of them are amazing in their own way. Demi has a voice with power that makes me pay attention to what she's singing and Tae has a soft voice that can melt anyone listening into puddles and make one with stress relax. demi is a "Technical singer " pitch wise the same tone for every note and good at sustaining high notes and growl's better while taeyeon has a better vocal dynamics that's why she has a different tone when hitting high notes like in twinkle and also has husky tone and winning overall the head voice :) taeyeon and demi has their weak and strong points

I love both but ,as overall i think Demi wins. For head voice, I think taeyeon is ahead of Demi considering her tone is very light and airy(in a good way) , Demi's head voice arent that bad either but it lacks control and resonance. Demi could belt up to bb5 with ease and full of emotion while Taeyeon starts to struggle at E#5 and up.
