When I was coaching people through the dungeon, I always told them air/fire = odd number of steps from the disciple, and water/earth = even steps from the disciple. I always thought this was one of the more fun and interesting boss mechanics.

Always forget the odd and evens or even and odds mechanics in this dungeon but I love killing the mobs with the snail death glyphs!

It's the subtitles. It explains how the dungeon works as it goes on.
