Kimbra LIVE at Splendour in the Grass 2011 - Plain Gold Ring

Kimbra played the Grant McLennan stage at SITG! She was pretty amazing. This is a cover of a Nina Simone song. Absolutely gorgeous.

Camera work is hideous; I get it. I was at the back of the crowd, it was zoomed in all the way, and my arms were held up over the crowd.

This is a brillant performance: a hight choice song she knows it is not easy-leasening, very hard to sing, covering an absolute diva and so taking the risk to be compared to her, before an audience that is not sensible to this style of music...and just before ending, she catches them with her great expressive talent ! Thet's impressive! She is only 21 ! Who, by this time, can reach such a high level live performing in so many different styles ? Definitly fan !

I like how she recognized the fact that the audience was not really paying attention to her she thought "f it, I'll shut them all up." and by golly, she did. There is nothing sexier and more beautiful than an ambitious and successful lady. Props to the future queen of pop (ps, she needs to break into the American music scene!)

@jimo2006 Yeah, I agree, but songs like Cameo Lover have a pop-sounding twist. If anything, I meant to say she is the evolution of what will be popular (not necessarily pop, or sell-out, sounding music). "Settle Down," is just--the next generation of wonderful music to come. I'm so happy Kimbra was born and I by chance found her wonderful music so I can indulge like those in Australia and New Zealand get to.

@venturedance i think it really just depends on the individuals that happen to be at a particular show. i play a weekly gig in californa, and i've observed that even with your regulars, the behavior of the crowd can be completely different from one night to the next.

I have lived in Sydney for five years and have been to numerous music shows/concerts - although admittedly not as many as I'd like to go to since a.) there's just not that much live music here b.) shows are not affordable and c.) I have a small child which means I rarely get out. I have been shocked at Sydneysiders general inability to pay attention to and enjoy music. This is a generality. Obviously not everyone here is like that. No I'm not an expert. And I'm the only arrogant person from TN.

I can see that I've offended some people with my stereotyping of Sydneysiders as unable to appreciate music. Obviously this is not true. But I have to say that I've had a very different experience with live music since I moved here five years ago. I just come from a very musical part of America where people really listen to, appreciate and support live music. I know there are plenty of people here who are like that as well.

@venturedance This clip is obviously created by someone in the crowd with a domestic camera down with the the rest of the concert goers, the mike picks up all the people around the camera, you can bet a professional video recording would have no such annoying background chatter.

@venturedance Yep. One clip from the the back of the room at one concert and you're an expert on Australians and all live gigs. And the arrogance - so do I infer that all people from Tennesee are arrogant and jump to conclusions too? Go to a crowded house gig and you could often hear a pin drop - if the whole crowd wasn't singing every word.
