I just found your site and have fallen in love with your stunning dream catchers. As a teen in the 1960's and now at age 70 I still thrive on my Bohemian sense of style and decor along with shabby and vintage. I'm thrilled to see your beautiful crafting and hope to own one one day.

sandie lindemeyer Native American traditions aren't part of your bohemian aesthetic
@chriscaine76896 жыл бұрын
beenibaby thats a little harsh to criticise sandie lindemeyer for her Bohemian comment when she never mentioned or abused the Native American traditions at all. We all know that for the Native Americans these beautiful and pretty items meant so much more. However, for those of us who lived the 60's Bohemian lifestyle the flowers, the freedom, the dreamcatchers, music, clothes etc were our tradition and our life experience back then, and it meant alot to us at the time. It still does to some of us who have never forgotten the way we were. Perhaps when you are 70 you will look back on something from your youth and treasure it. Let's all enjoy the freedom of the worldwide web and what it brings us, and if it makes us happy, doesn't mean we don't respect, it just means we are enjoying the moment. Namaste. Bless you sandie lindemeyer for reminding me of those times. Thanks to Kim for her ongoing efforts in bringing us all things we can enjoy

@@chriscaine7689 As a Native American, I can 100% say that using our culture and sacred objects and aesthetics or decoration isn't showing respect. You can't disrespect our beliefs and traditions and then say "Well, I like it so that means I respect it." Past ignorance doesn't give you the right to continue to disrespect us and our culture. When I'm 70, I'll be able to gladly say I never used another culture as my aesthetic because I TRULY respect all cultures.

@@jio2787 unless you are Ojibwe , it's not part of your traditional culture either . And let's be real here it's purpose was to "protect" children from bad dreams .so why be all , 'don't disrespect my sacred heritage man ! ' I learned how to do lovely Native American arts in highschool in a class in the mid 70's , taught by a Cherokee Woman from my town . Although I myself am of Scottish blood ,I have a large part of my family is Choctaw . There is a difference between traditional and sacred , and there is nothing wrong with admiring art from another culture.

I have a quick question! I made my first giant dream catcher earlier today with the help of your past videos. It turned out okay but some how I ended with an oval in the center from a completely round hoop! I have no idea how I managed it, the spacing looks decently even all the way around the web. I did not miss any place and it only started to take an oval shape the sixth line in and I’ve checked and checked for a missed spot! Do you hav any tips to avoid this from happening?

I'm somewhat new to making dream catchers. To tell the truth, the one I'm making now is only my 5th. My wife saw a moon D C on someone's post and asked if I could make her one. I make mine from exclusively primitive materials and techniques, so it is a bit more time consuming. My string I make from tree bark, and my frames are black raspberry stems. I wasn't sure how to weave it, but this was what I needed to so to learn to do so. You make beautiful things

For what ever reason. I can always spot out an Aussie youtuber by their accent haha. I'm Aussie and I don't hear our accent irl only on youtube. I guess the contrast between other accents like American Canadian ect to the Aussie one is stronger here. What I'm getting to is I get so excited seeing other Australians making content, and really decent content at that

finally someone who is so amazing with dream catchers and wonderfull musical taste that is so relaxing. my partner is crazy about them and wolves so i have wolf pictures every where and dream catchers ranging in size from teeny tiny spider webs up to huge arm spans with painted leather work in the centre... but home made is the best for me and this seems the best one for me to make plus he has this terrible fascination with clear fairy lights so i would give it a spray in flameproofing residue to counteract heat and add them i already have tonnes of crystals of various sizes and healing properties as well as a finger drill to make a hole in them to attach them too things so thats a great option for me as we;;

This is such a cute idea! I make dreamcatchers too, and they’re so much fun! In the past, I’ve used a different crescent style, but I think I like this one better. ;) one thing I’ve learned through my projects is that you really want to make sure your keeping the weave very tight as you go. Beautiful job. Is like to give you a suggestion for your knots as I work with different thread types with my knot/mistake jewelry. Instead of nail polish, use regular (not gel) super glue. It will soak into the thread, dry hard as a rock and does not come undone as nail polish will/can flake off.
