Unpick and remove the zip, add elastic, sew up the gap. @@faithily

Another idea is to cut off the waist band then small amount down as the skirt has sunray pleats it can be ajusted to new size, use an amount of the inside of fabric from waistband to increase it then replace it on the inside only .

Waistbands are often a double layer of fabric. So could you perhaps also take a bit of fabric from the inside of the waistband, replacing it with a spare piece of similar fabric, then use the bit you've cut from the inside of the waistband to disguise the extra bit of elastic? (Disclaimer - I don't know if this would work: I'm watching the videos to try to learn how to to sew and do repairs!)

Another way that it can be done is to sew in a stretchy corset style closure that tapers over the zipper portion. It can be removed easily without damaging the material.

Oh no, I'm not keen on this result at all. IF you want to do the wedge inserts, I'd do half the size x 2 that might look like part of the design. Failing that, I'd make a new waistband from black satin, which I'd prefer.

U should cut the waist fabrics in half , cause the waist fabrics was fold into the black stretch band . Use the other half fabric cut them into that triangle piece to sew it in the side to fit .

Now you have this weird black triangle on your hip? And because the waistband is so beautiful you are now limited to not showing it. This eliminates wearing a tucked in shirt. My rule of thumb when wearing a micro pleated skirt is to have a more fitted top, otherwise your look is off balance. I see they do it a lot on Pinterest with the pleated skirt and it still looks very off balance not elegant more casual boho. Sorry darling I think I'll skip this one but it is a good concept for other garments.

She a did it kinda quick & dirty here, but if you took a lot of time to make sure the triangle of elastic followed the line of the waist band, and found a strip of the same fabric to cover the different color & texture, this would 100% work if you wear shorter tops… or you could take out the zipper and mirror the elastic on the other side so it looked like a design choice… this is an excellent basic waist alteration! Adjust it however you want. 😊
