My parent's are from a Southern background so I was raised eating sweet potatoes in all kinds of dishes and desserts (mostly orange, some gold). When I went to Hawaii for the first time I was given a dessert made with purple local sweet potatoes and was shocked. I had no idea they even existed. Took a bite, tasted that familiar flavor and it was like "nom nom nom"! I'll take sweet potatoes any way I can get them and in any color!

I'm half native american, raised by my indigenous family. One of the things we talk about is how important not only sustainability is but passing down knowledge about gathering and hunting to our little ones. And you guys are killing it with both!

We also live a traditional hunter / gatherer lifestyle here in Finland . It’s great to see you promote this lifestyle . More people ought to source their own food but everything is just too convenient in the modern world ... keep it up Kimmy ! Your episodes also help with the yearning I have to return to Hawai’i !! 🌺🌴 Alohaa 🌝

Oh, I remember the market in Hale'iwa used to sell a bag of "off grade" macadamias raw in the shell for a couple dollars and I'd get some and sit on the driveway and pop 'em with a hammer and eat them. Good times. They're not hard to crack and rough asphalt keeps them in place.
