They are doing a live stream 23rd October to mark 40 years in the business. Going to cost £10 to watch it. They had a lot of things planned but this coronavirus has ruined that for them. One of the most unrated bands I've followed from the start.

Today, as you listen to this song Another 394, 000 children were born into this world They break like waves of hunger and desire upon these eroded shores Carrying the curses of history and a history yet unwritten The oil burns in thick black columns, the buzz saws echo through the forest floor They shout give us our fair share, give us justice Here comes the war On a grey morning to the south of here Two young men in makeshift uniforms peer into the misty light And figures dart behind the trees As a snap of rifle rounds echoes out across the fields They hardly know their sacred mother tongue but they know their duty To defend the flag hanging limp and bloody above the village church While a thousand miles away, in a warehouse complex down by the river, Young money men play paintball games Here comes the war - put out the lights on the Age of Reason So blow out the candle and tell us another of those great stories, the ones about serial killers. Let dreams flow into savage times. Do you hear the sirens scream across the city? We've had three hot nights in succession - the riot season is here again Dear Lord, lead us back into the Valley of the Shadow of Death, Here comes the war. Did you think we were born in peaceful times? Faster, faster, like a whirling dervish spinning round Faster, faster, until the Centre cannot Hold You screamed give us Liberty or give us Death Now you've got both, what do you want next? Here comes the war - put out the lights on the Age of Reason.

4:25 "First comes the blinding flashing light, then comes the wave of the blast." I can't get this out of my head. I imagine what seeing a nuclear explosion feels like - after a lifetime of fearing it would happen, will I actually witness this in my lifetime? Seeing this flash and knowing that either you life will be over soon, or radically and irrevocably change from here on. The event of a lifetime...

In September of the year 2000, the extremely influential neoconservative think tank Project for the New American Century published a report titled “Rebuilding America’s Defenses” which laid out an agenda for ensuring US world dominance in a post-Cold War world. It called for massive, sweeping changes in the current model for US policy, about which it made the following observation: “Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor. “ One year later, the neoconservatives got their “new Pearl Harbor” in the form of 9/11.

Thank you for this thoughtful post. Since you wrote this, George Floyd was murdered on film and in broad daylight...Now Trump wants to ignore the Posse Comitas act and use the new, renewed military force that we have built since 9/11...the FEDERAL U.S. MILITARY FORCES on U.S. citizens... we renewed our military readiness so much, in fact since 9/11 that we have produced more military hardware than we could ever use or that could be sold on the open market. So now they send the surplus on down to local police forces, which are being completely militarized, far beyond what is necessary for civil control, and you are beginning to see this kind of militarist response that Trump relishes in...yesterday at Lafayette Park, across from the White House. As of yesterday he just used it a little...a Blackhawk helicopter, unnecessarily, and in a menacing gesture mean to send a powerful authoritarian message, hovered threateningly over a perfectly legal, non-violent protest group, followed by tear gas, noise grenades and (I've heard) even rubber bullets. All this on a perfectly legal, thoughtful gathering of protesters. Here Comes The War (For the soul of America.)
