6 pages is what I would expect for 2nd grader 1 lesson per day. I would not have kids skip over a lesson either. I also see skipping over stuff as failing kids in terms of their education as well.

I love these along with switched on School House.I have used alpha Omega from preschool on,and my children are very intelligent and learning a ton.its not difficult for the parents to implement and it's not full of holes . The curriculum is solid.

@@oliviasudduth2883 I was watching this review and wondering if they could do the online and use the workbooks as well. Does it confuse your kids at all? I’m wondering if it’s worth paying for the online subscription and also buy the books. With just the online classes, is there an option to print out worksheets?

Does work get mailed in? Is there grading outside of the parent? Is it accredited?

Hi Jack. The parent is responsible for grading and teacher's manual has the techniques for grading in it. You can send in your child's work for grading and accreditation. Call AOP for their instructions. Their customer service is excellent. LifePac is the printed version of Monarch (internet) and Switched on Schoolhouse (usb drive). Both of these options are auto grading. Hope this helps!

Thanks for this video. I've been researching BJU online and Monarch for my rising 5th, 7th and 10th grader. I haven't seen this curriculum you showed before. How rigorous would you say this curriculum is and how much time do you mom have to teach? I need something that's somewhat independent. Do you have to track grades? I love that it's all paper and not online.

What made you decide to use Horizons for Math only?

Hi! I also used Horizons for one of my daughters phonics and spelling but once she had those down I needed an actual Language, Science, and History. Horizons does not offer those subjects. Their Phonics and Spelling are fantastic though...if you're looking for those subjects. I also LOVE Hooked on Phonics....A LOT! All of my girls used that curriculum and all are above reading level. You can also pair up HOP with the BOB books for younger readers. Hope this helps! :)

My son is going into the third grade and digital learning is not going to work with our timeframe. So my husband and I are looking into Lifepac, But i was wondering is it Accredited? And what will I have to do?

I like the freedom of books better too. LifePac by itself is not accredited, but using it through Alpha Omega Academy it is. You will need to submit test and projects to the academy online. www.aoacademy.com/aoa-academics/

Would you say around 2nd & 4th is fairly independent? I'm thinking about switching our science the TGTB. I like the simplicity of AOP. Also, since the first unit is a review of the year before would you think that there could be trouble with a new student starting that didn't do the units before?

Independence varies with each child and subject. My 2nd grader can be independent today and not tomorrow, but my 5th grader is more reliable after I get her started, same with my 8th grader. My word of advice, though, is don't push too hard. If they aren't ready to be independent it's ok they will get there. :). I don't think starting a unit with a new student would be a problem at all. You might even just skim the 1st unit and ask questions so you can see where they are. Get it done as a review hour or day.

How do you grade and keep their records? I have an incoming 9th grader. I want to order the LifePac for 9th grader but I am concerned about record keeping and transcript later on since she's in high school. Any tips?

Ok, so I haven't kept strict grades in the past. If they know how to do something and do it well we moved on to the next thing, if not we sat there until we could. That being said, I also have an upcoming 9th grader and will be recording her grades for credits. So, what I did was talk to other homeschoolers who have already done this which is very helpful. So I would suggest talking with and older homeschool family. I was able to get a copy of their transcript so that I could see what path they took, which is really helpful. You can download a transcript from the internet or make your own. Also, of course, you need to look up your state requirements and see what is needed to graduate. As far as the LifePac, you can do the accreditation for them where you send their tests in and they grade them for you. I would contact them aop.com. Lifepac is the paper copy of Monarch and Switched On Schoolhouse, fyi. Hope this helps :)

Yes, we love it. My kids do ask questions but that's to be expected, right?! Sometimes they have to slow down and re-read a section just as anyone would. :)

This particular curriculum doesn't have videos, but their Monarch curriculum is online.

Inside monarch they do,and switched on school house,they do. You can use KHAN academy to give visuals. It's user friendly and you should invest in the manipulators for math. It's a very solid curriculum, I have used it since 2009.

@@favored4life Yeah. It can be hard. I'll keep with RC but added some Memoria Press material specially about grammar, phonics... Also some books that are outside the list but that are considered also classical books.

Hi! As far as I know they do not supply laptops but they do have, Monarch, a complete online curriculum that you can try out FREE for 30 days.
