Amazing that deputies came out when you had trespassers! Here in a small city in BC Canada they aren't much interested in thefts, threats, druggies...might be why so many Canadians would love to escape to Florida! I remember those stinky mushrooms. I always thought they grew up over a pile of poop. Good to see you are making progress. Keep an eye on your contractor, make sure he is not cutting corners with cheap materials and is doing it properly.

There is a homesteader in Oklahoma (Daniel Arms) who does a post once or Twice a week. He too is using the experiences to teach his children. He is also a Christian and and has a great testimony. He has a son 8n the first year of college, a girl (preteen) and younger son. You could learn from him about the homesteader point of view. I'm so glad you are bouncing back from your bad experience. Great to see you all happy and healthy. This is probably a stupid question......Why do you not live onsite with your temporary home and would that put people off trespassing and stealing things. This is what we do to keep an eye on our development as when the building starts there is alot more to tempt theft. Stay safe and positive 🙏 👍👍👍

Unfortunately we can not live on site. We could have if we had planned for it months before the permits were applied for. We didn't know we would be living in a camper. Our county is money hungry .... they require permits to breathe air.. 😑

Love your plans for your kids for their future. If only more city kids could learn the good life lessons that yours will. That's the problem with building in a fairly isolated area, there is ample opportunity after dark for undesirables to pick and choose what they want to take. Good idea having those cameras set up to help deter their activity and once you are in the house it will deter them even more. I had a couple of those mushrooms pop u[ in my front flower bed about a month ago. I have an app on iPhone that identifies plants and trees from the picture you take. It called that a Stinkhorn Mushroom, Phalladeae. I had never seen them before. Thanks so much for the update. God is definitely guiding your path. Not sure what those troubles you ran into were meant to teach you, but, "God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform." It is great to see you in a much calmer state now. It is going to b exciting once your foundation gets poured and things start going UP.

Florida is a great place, I was born in South Florida. I would never live there now to many people, I like more of the country. And being a swamp baby it's hard being in the city. Even now I live in the mountains in a town where the population was 1500 until the fire took our town and and houses everything is gone. Only 20% of the town survived our house being one of them. But at some point after the law suit is settled we're going to sell and leave going back south. I do miss home and it'll most likely be our last move. You and your family have my best wishes for what lies ahead for ya`ll

Can I make it a suggestion Kim? Having zip lock bags will prevent you from having to smell and make you feel like vomiting, by using them on trips in nature. Hope you find this helpful! I use them on hikes here in Pennsylvania. There are mosses that can be used for dyeing and staining. Maybe you've done that.

I believe they are (appropriately) called stinkhorns. They sprout almost overnight out of little white balls/spores in the soil. I don't know where they come from but they are stanky.

Great progress. It's really difficult to do what y'all are doing right now, I think of my own situation, due to back injury, but like I have told my wife on more than one occasion, He's gotten us this far, he'll get us through this and further down the road. Stinky mushrooms, not to good! But them deer especially the buck looks rather tasty. Maybe y'all can get a friend to harvest it, so you'll have some good eating. Stay safe! I had a very similar response to prayer. We needed a bigger house and had already sold ours. We needed to move. Thursday, while driving down the interstate to a job, I asked the Lord to hit me with a baseball bat and tell me which way to go. Nothing we were looking at would work. I left town on a business trip Friday and Friday night my wife called me and said she found the house we were going to buy. Thank you, Lord.
