Kinbor A6 Techo | Best affordable planner? | AliExpress finds

Kinbor is really trying to become Hobonichi's biggest competitor.
In todays' video, I break down the 2023 Kinbor Techo and how it is similar to the 2022 Hobonichi Day Free Planner. I look forward to using this planner in the upcoming year!

Hi! I use Kinbor! I use the dated weeks, the A5, and the A6. I purchased the Jibun Techo one for work for next year, also. I use the weeks for portable/in my purse planning. I will use the A6 next year for my journal. I hope it is big enough as I used the A5 this year. I love them so much! I don't think the paper is Tomoe River paper. I translated everything one time with Google Translate and it was a different kind of paper. I had a slip of paper in mine that told me what kind it was. It reminds me more of Stalogy paper.

I bought the Cool dots or whatever they are called on Ali express that look like the dot markers. Some of them work great, while some of them are really juicy. I wasn't really impressed with the ones I bought. I have heard the Pentel Fitlines are better than Mildliners. I haven't tried them yet.

I agree, in the past kinbor used a similar paper. But all the pictures show TMR paper for this year...it could very well be a gimmick. Still a great option though! So glad to hear that you have had success with kinbor, I look forward to using the techo next year :)

Ist there an a6 option from kinbor with yearly, monthly, weekly and daily? I hate to use multiple olanners. That's why i bulletjournal since 2018, but i am tired to write all the numbers dates and so on by myself. Pls excuse my poor English....

probably not tomoe river paper BUT tr does have thicker versions (hobonichi is 52 gsm) and the kinbor dated planners behave similarly to tr 60 gsm paper (though i am seeing the tiniest bit of bleed through)

I guess i should try and see if it's possible to contact TMR for confirmation. The grid isn't the same and the gsm is thicker. Nevertheless, the paper is still a good quality and I look forward to testing it out next year ;)

I just got my A6 Kinbor for an on-the-go notebook to jot down to-do lists, and am going to use it alongside my Hobonichi Cousin A5 next year (among other planners haha). The Kinbor is definitely not Tomoe River Paper (TRP), not by a landslide but imo if you don't use fountain pens and/or inks with special characteristics then it doesn't really matter. Texture to the TRP is similar, if not a little thicker, but you don't get that special crinkly effect from the cousin's TRP. I avidly use fountain pens from a spectrum of price points and the Kinbor paper just does not do fountain pen inks any justice. That is when the Kinbor paper looks cheap imo - it feathers (!!!) and bleeds through rather than shows the shadow of the writing on the other side when compared to TRP. The special sheen, shading, and color tone shifts in certain inks just do not show up at all and my vibrant dual tone ink colors on TRP show up in a dull, flat version on the Kinbor paper. But if you use ballpoint or gel pens then this paper is no different and you won't see any difference! TRP is renowned for being great for fountain pen inks, after all. And price difference is something to factor in too - that TRP premium is reallll.

I also use fountain pens almost exclusively, so hopefully it holds up! Otherwise I will have to come up with a Plan B! Thanks for the insight regarding the 2 different papers :) You clearly have some experience here!

I sold the second half of my 2022 Hobonichi Cousin Avec on Mercari in June. It sold the same day I listed it and I got paid. I wouldn’t do Facebook.

The Kinbor grid looks even smaller than the Hobonichi grid which is very small at 3.7 in that Day Free.

Yes, I think they are lying about the TRP. The grid is different after close inspection. Hopefully it is still a usable notebook though!!!
