Y’all I can’t lie this film slaps. Joe Johnston just understands how to direct a meager fast paced popcorn film. Something Spielberg struggles with, it’s a pure survival-thriller that knows what it needs to do and it achieves that. Unlike Lost World I actually cared about the characters and it feels like there’s real stakes. I was nervous revisiting this one as it was a childhood favorite but it holds up. 4/5 on the KF scale for me.

I think they're talking about human antagonists
@mikegates89932 жыл бұрын
I actually don't find it to unbelievable, or at least if he has some survival skills. Keep in mind that a human would only make a mouthful for the larger dinosaurs, Raptors would likely have a defined area that you can theoretically avoid, and Compies were scavengers, meaning that two wouldn't necessarily be actively hunting a single human if he was careful and the last could be avoided. Also someone just trying to survive isn't going to attract as much attention as a group of mercenaries moving as a group like the Lost World and most of the deaths in the first movie were either because of territory or the Raptors being led by a Raptor that appeared somewhat more bloodthirsty then the ones we encounter on this island.

On Tim mentioning there is no antagonist that’s true. They should have come up with something, but they keep doing the ‘human military guys’ as the bad guys in other sequels and that doesn’t work either. Loved the video. Hearing the thoughts is so interesting and I laugh all throughout! I have watched this one a bunch of times. I enjoy it for what it is. Definitely a 'background' movie but its fun to watch with my mom and sister. The two things I do not like are 1. the mom and 2. the banter between her and the dad. The chemistry and bickering just doesn't do it for me. Also, what kind of mom let's her son go to an illegal island full of dinosaurs with a boyfriend (was she married to that guy, I can't recall) and doesn't go with? Honestly, would have preferred if she hadn't been there and it was just the dad that went. There may have been better story beats with the dad reuniting with his son or whatever. In any case, there are characters I like in this one and at least care about. In Lost World characters are evil/horrible cartoonishly so and the good guys are and do some really stupid things. Of course my opinion and I look forward to your thoughts on Jurassic World. Stay funny guys!

This movie is a schlocky action movie, but it is aware of that and I would argue still makes it better then Lost World. Lost World tries way too hard to push it's anti-hunting and anti-zoo message and it's "protagonists" behave like idiots or in the case Nick sociopathic. And to be honest, the actual plot of Lost World is at least as dumb as this one.

@mikegates89932 жыл бұрын
Is she though? Tea's character is more annoyingly acted, but Julianne Moore's character is insulting to the audience's intelligence. Everything her character says and does is so far the opposite of what a person in the field she is claimed to be in that it feels intentional. And at least Tea's character understands that a child or teenager or whatever the age of the kids are being on the island is a bad idea. Julianne's character actually defended Kelly for coming.
