@@ANTIStraussian I have seen it, but I don’t think it is an objective truth by any means. In fact, the Raimi films, in my estimation, are pretty garbage when it comes to their depiction of Peter and Spider-Man. The villains are the best parts of the first two and Willem Dafoe’s character gets really hammy to the point of annoyance the first time. The romance between Peter and MJ sucks as well. Frankly, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had the inverse problem: bad villains, plotting, and exposition, but a brilliant Peter/Spider-Man portrayal, a great romantic relationship, and fantastic and exciting action sequences. It really just depends on what you are looking for from these movies. That might lead you to think some films are better than others.

You don’t necessarily have to do another in-review as a group. Its clear that most of you are reluctantly watching these movies, falling asleep because you choose to watch them late, greg doesn’t even like watching movies, etc. Therefore, I have always felt these movies are not being given a fair shot. Also, the mcu in review made perfect sense because it culminated in an event (infinity war). Venom was never an event, and not a culmination in any way. Neither is the x-men universe culminating in any sort of relevante event. Therefore, these in-reviews were mostly just reviews. I had no reason to watch along, in fact. With this in mind, similar to how people always wanted a greg cooking show, and a comic show, I think we would enjoy a movie talk show with nick and guests or nick and a few of you, depending on the movies. For example, fast and furious series will culminate in an event (the last film). It’d be fun to see nick, tim, and maybe someone else who has a similar passion for the series watch them and talj about them. Or, watch a few bad movies, just for the laughs. Or a series of oscar-worthy movies. Things like that. If its not going to be on-going, then just make sure there’s an actual reason to rewatch the series, like when they culminate in some sort of event or significant movie. If its going to be ongoing, then the above recommendations.

Man, I completely disagree with Andy when he says a film being memorable is a bad take for saying one movie is better than another. Any movie that anyone loves is partly because of how memorable a movie is. Everyone collectively agrees that Empire is the best Star Wars movie, and that's because there's not just memorable scenes in it, they are some of the most memorable scenes in cinema history. Period. Also, everyone watches a movie for different purposes, whether it's for escapism, to watch something related to your experiences, or to learn or be inspired from a film. But one thing I think we can all agree on is that we want movies to be memorable, regardless of what you're trying to get out of a movie. So would I rather watch a bad but memorable movie over a bad and boring movie? Yes, any day of the week.
@henreebee65616 жыл бұрын
AgentAhmed I agree with you, I think if a movie or a part of a movie was memorable, that means that the filmmakers pulled off something that was truly special and unique. You can also remember a movie for it’s bad moments, and while the Raimi films had some of those, the good outweighs the bad IMO, and so I’d rather watch those movies than a safe, middle-of-the-road flick like the ASM.

I loved this series but I gotta be real I couldnt make it through the one for Spiderman 2. Rewatched it after hearing you guys thought it was bad and I was so surprised at how unbelievably strong the movie was, the movie even moved me to tears (something no piece of media has in 8 years). All good that you guys didnt like it that much, but I think you guys should maybe rethink what you define as "bad". Even if you dont like these movies that much, I feel your bar for "bad" has slowly raised (or lowered cant figure how to say it) very high through the In Review series. Sounds weird but maybe changing the mind set of how you watch and talk about movies could enhance your experience and the vibe of the podcast. Ripping apart movies can be fun but it gets slightly frustrating on occasion. Finding enjoyment in trash like Spiderman 3 can be as funny as being down on it for instance. Nick for instance can like a lot of cheesy ass 80s movies for what they are and I think applying that mind set to the In Review movies could make it a more positive experience. Doesnt mean you cant make fun of them though Dont mean to come across as disrespectful, or a hater and I still really really really love this series and the whole KF crew. Also shoutout to Greg's hard truths, man is still a hard hitting journalist at heart.

Denis J I actually think Spider-Man 3 is a pretty good movie in the first half, but falls apart in the second half, and by the end is just a mess. I know I'm very late on this, but I still want to share an adjusted final ranking based on their personal rankings, that is more aligned with what their final ranking should have been. - The way they vote on movies in the standalone reviews (with the hand-raising) feels unbalanced and inconsistent, especially when people later change their opinion suddenly in their personal rankings (Kevin weirdly not putting ASM2 over SM2 and ASM anymore) and they don't make a new final list based on their five personal lists. - So I assigned points to the movies based on which ranking they had in the personal lists. 1 point if it's #1, 2 if it's #2 and so on, and then added them all together, the more points a movie has the lower it ranks. - The final ranking should therefore look more like this: #1 - Amazing Spider-Man AND Spider-Man 2 (10 Points) #2 - Amazing Spider-Man 2 (15 Points) #3 - Venom AND Spider-Man (20 Points) #4 - Spider-Man 3 (30 Points) - P.S: Kevin also said in this video he likes Venom more than Amazing Spider-Man, but in his list he ranked Venom below AMS. Is he even serious about doing these rankings?
@PapoOv6 жыл бұрын
Results breakdown: If everyone assigned points for every movie meaning that your number one gets 6 points and your last get 1 the results are: 1. Amazing Spider-man 2. Spider-man 2 3. Amazing Spider-man 2 4. Spider-man 5. Venom 6. Spider-man 3 Also if we simulate the voting system, adding one movie at the time the results are: 1. Amazing Spider-man 2. Amazing Spider-man 2 3. Spider-man 2 4. Venom 5. Spider-man 6. Spider-man 3 Either way the results are no where near the actual rankings, get your shit together guys

The Raimi films had simple characters, but you understood them quickly and they weren’t offensively bad. Where I think the films excel is in their direction and style. There’s so many creative camera shots, the editing is tight, and to me the special effects still hold up, at least in 2 and 3. To me that makes them better than the generic Amazing Spider-Man’s, which had no distinct style to speak of, but perhaps better writing overall.
