Jewish (Yiddish) music is the ultra-soulful music. Although Jewish music has influences from the countries in which they lived, nevertheless their music is uniquely Jewish. As a Jew I cannot hear this music without being emotionally stirred and reminded of my Jewish heritage.

But Yiddish is not only a language; it is an ethnic group from Central Europe, who was in Israel 2000 years ago, who was as well in Sinai 3500 years ago. The people were scattered away and took characteristics depending on the new environment, own original culture kept along but with a language that developed according to the region, their way of living, their intellectual and spiritual development. In the 16th, 17th 18th and even in the 20th centuries, this was the major Jewish group in the world. They were exterminated in the Shoah. A very few survived, but Yiddish culture disappeared forever. I am Yiddish. I belong to this ethnic group. And that doesn’t depend on the fact that I speak Yiddish or not. The frame is obviously completed if I do bcz it’s part of the culture. But if my children & grandchildren marry with people from the same ethnic group (quite unlikely), they’ll keep being Yiddish in some way. But never put that before or above their belonging to the country and the people they live in. We are always faithful to the country we live in, but still with ethnic characteristics.
