#14 I decided to try the Kindling Cracker and very glad I did. It is much safer, and faster than using an axe or hatchet to make kindling. I do an unboxing, setup, and review along with a comparison using my axe.

Have had one for three years now and it is just as good now as it was out of the box. It's a no brainer if you try one and you get to keep all of your digits too!

Just a matter of time before you injure your hand using the hatchet method! Glad you liked the KC- it’s the bomb!

Wrap either two bungee cords in the middle or unscrew the device and put it in a 4 or 5 litre plastic paint tub and then screwed down the device. Save you bending down all the times to pick up every single piece of wood. Make yourself a nice outdoor chair or bench and sit down and splitting or chopping kindling. Good work. Nice shed cheers Hans.

This looks great and very safe compared to axes and hatchets. I am disabled with a paralyzed right side, so this looks great for my needs. I have boughten and been using 3 hydraulic splitters and the hydraulic cylinders leaked down to where there's nothing. And the hydraulic refill hole is very difficult for me to refill . And it won't last long to where I'll need to refill it again because the cylinders seals are shot. To avoid all of the hassles of the hydraulic cylinders problems, I'll prefer this Kindling Cracker XL anytime. The young lady who invented this did a great job.👍👍👍🙂🕊. I am planning on calling Northern Tools and buying one asap. Thank you for your review and testing of this great ,safe, and simple tool for firewood processing. 👍🏕🏞🌄

I bought the original one three years ago. I don't think the King was out yet. I remember the King being advertised as coming soon when I bought the original. That said, the original works really well. It will split a 6" wide log that is 12" in length with ease (obviously depending on the log-knots suck LOL). I have not even sharpened it yet and it usually site beside me when I am having a camp fire. I remember using it the first time and I split a lot of dried pine kindling in about two minutes. I use a Fiskars club hammer.

Thanks for the comment. I’m not sure I needed the king. Bigger pieces are definitely harder to split. I usually my nicer firewood because it’s easier to split.

I mounted mine lower to the ground, then ya take a seat and start splitting. Sure makes it a more comfortable task and easier to pick up the split sections for a second split.

I love the idea. I started using a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out. Fits perfectly over the kindling cracker.

Good video. I like your firewood storage shed. If I had more room, I would build mine exactly the same. There is something soothing about using a good ax. Not sure if i am sold on the cracker yet.. but maybe down the road. Thanks.

Thanks! If I was just splitting my own kindling I could definitely do without it. They are not cheap. But for the roadside stand and making bags of kindling it works great. I can split a lot in a short period of time.

Hey thank you for the unboxing do you think it would possible to chop larger pieces of wood because the ones in the video already have been choped by a quarter of their original size? Thanks in advance

Absolutely. I like to split down to a normal size piece of firewood. The kindling cracker can handle much bigger pieces though.

When you were splitting using the axe, your posture was kinda hunched over as you swung. With the device, you were standing straighter.
