My mom became very ill when I was 19 and her hospital bills wrecked us. She could only afford to pay $25 a month. I went to community college for IT and bust my butt for two years while working 30 hours a week. I found a really good job about 6 months after graduating. At 25, with my third check, I paid off my mom’s hospital bill. It’s like it ended the saga for all of us.

I just don’t understand why Americans don’t understand universal healthcare. My best friend had a genetic heart defect. As soon as it was detected, he had open heart surgery. This was followed by prostate cancer. The surgery and radiation treatments are all paid for by everyone in the country. It’s a small amount of tax that guarantees care for everything. No one suffers financial ruin because of hospital bills. Figure it out already!

You know the biggest credit goes back to the parents for raising these incredibly kind adults that their children have become. In this perilous world we are living in not enough love and respect are given to parents who’ve done the right thing by their children. You know, I’m middle aged, ill health on disability and broke, but each day I’m so fortunate that I had a brilliant mum and sister. They are sadly at rest now, but the memories I have of them carries me through my life for however I got left of it. Where these incredible people have done for their parents, when the time comes for their parents to rest with God, these special memories will hold them and carry them through the rest of their lives thereafter. I don’t know but I think there should be an extra day of celebration annually for Parents Appreciation Day to celebrate parents who do the right thing by their their children, grandchildren etc

No such thing as free. Someone's paying for it. John Q. Public in Denmark. That works for some people, but in the US, a large percentage of the population are unemployed because they want to be unemployed (I know four adults that are collecting SS and have never held jobs and never paid into SS) and the rest of us pay their way.

My mom wasn’t in my life for over 10 years so the last 7 months of her life I lived with her and paid her bills when I was 17 so she could focus on her health. She got sick on my birthday and didn’t last after that. But I still help others in memory of her.

I have 5 kids. If one of these little ingrates don’t get me the car I had and loved when I was a teen they are going to be taken right out of my will 😂😂😂 When I was 19 my mom bought me a 1989 red Toyota MR2 fully loaded with tee tops. It had 4 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. I LOVED that car! It was so fun to drive. Some idiot hit me and totaled it. My mom replaced it with a Toyota celica but it wasn’t the same.

I am a mother of 15 children. I worked their whole lives as their father was home supposedly disabled. However my children who were homeschooled and never said a word but what I didn’t know is that he made them clean the house and look after him and all he ever did was order them around and made them wait on him hand and foot all the while bad mouthing me which I never understood because all I ever did was work and school my kids he was and is the laziest man I’ve ever known in my life. So I can’t see my kids doing any of this for me as I feel they think I did this to them on purpose but I swear I never knew what he was putting them through. I used to work double shifts or multiple jobs and never got any help from him. Unless you ask him of course, in which case you will hear HIM tell you all the lies I used to get told.

This is unique for Westerners. In India, kids do this without batting an eyelid nor do we make a big deal about this. Moreover, in Bharat it is customary for the kids to take care of their parents and stay with them under one roof!!
