I think he’s great, but I’ve never been blown away by a performance. I think he’s just able to serves the roles he gets better than anyone else can. 🤷🏻♂️ He went from one of the best shows of all time to being in 90% of the best movies of the last several years. Directors must see something special in him. With that being said, this feels like his most interesting role so far and I’m really excited to see it.

@@Chadcat180 Oh come on, I was talking about the present and the future, not the past. Indeed Dune 2 was a celebrated movie and an event film. But I think people have developed a knack of going to the theatre only for seeing big event films, which are mostly sequels or part of beloved franchises or IPs. Hence I said in the comment that D&W and Joker 2 would be the only 2 films in the rest of the year for which people will go to the theatres in large numbers.

You either don't know much about the upcoming movies or your one of those Marvel fanboys who keeps saying 2025 is going to be the best year for movies, I'm the exact opposite where I think 2024 is going to be the best year for movies. July is Maxxxine(third movie of the X trilogy), Longlegs, and Twisters, Deadpool and Wolverine(I can watch Twisters at home I only listed because it's a big sequel), August is Trap, Cukkoo, Alien Romulus, September is Beetlejuice 2 a sequel I've been wanting since I was a little kid. The Strangers Chapter 2 supposed to come out this fall but it isn't revealed what month in the fall. In October there is Smile 2 and Terrifier 3, and I have way more interest in Terrifier 3 then in the Joker sequel. I actually do have interest in the Joker sequel but it's like Twisters where I can just wait to watch it at home. I even have more interest in Smile 2 then in Joker 2. I'm still waiting until I Saw the TV Glows comes to digital because no theaters around me would play it when it came out. I also already saw some really good movies that came out this year. So to me 2024 is like the best year for me for movies.

TRIGGER WARNING: This is not a comedy!!! I would strongly advise against watching the film for people who have a high level of empathy or people who have had bad experiences with abuse of power. The film definitely has the potential to trigger trauma. Please be careful with yourself and those around you and communicate this, because the trailer doesn't make this clear!! I think it's absolutely negligent to declare something like this a comedy. My personal experience with the film: I just find the film brutal, disgusting, disturbing and, despite the stark emotions, extremely boring. I left the cinema after about 3/4 of the time because, after suffering for several minutes during the film, I had given up hope that the film would get better. The film obviously just wants to shock. He does that too. It shows sadism and masochism at its worst. I'm concerned about people who only get pleasure from watching something like this. I think or hope that the film will (also) evoke extremely negative emotions in most people. Depending on your personality structure and the extent of your own sadistic psychopathic parts, this film will resonate differently with people. This is the only meaning I can derive from this film. As Emma Stone herself says of the film: “It’s the moment of truth”. Anyone who has less of their own strong manifestations of dark traits (sadism, psychopathy, narcissism, Marchiavallism) and wants to be in a bad mood and constantly disgusted should watch it, but perhaps also think about why that has to be the case. Otherwise, a big trigger warning for people with a lot of empathy and a recommendation from me to simply save the money or go to another film instead.

Poor things was really great and interesting but if I get a ton of movies like that then it's definitely going to end up being not so interesting and it'll seem less good.
