This scenario video shows how a Kinect for Windows-enabled digital sign application makes it easy for shoppers to engage with products, try them on, and purchase while also using social media for additional marketing reach.

Man if I saw one of these in a clothing store I would be so happy. Opposed to having to dig through the thousands of mismatched outfits on the racks, I could simply virtually try on the things I really like, get a feel of what is available and get the representative to get me what I want to try on.

You'd still have to try the clothes on, though. This system leaves a lot of scope for fraudulent representation. Tweak the appearance of the shopper here and there and she'd look good in anything. So you'd need to make sure that the stuff you're buying really fits as well as shown.

KyriaNunNuit Perhaps, but it does save a lot of time having to dig through the clothing on your own, carry it to the dressing room etc. Why not use the available technology, see how things will look on you and afterwards select what you love the most. Ofc you still have to try it on, it just saves the hassle of having to dig through racks of clothing to find what you like best. Basically you pick what you want to try on without running all over the department store, and the representative gets what you want.

KyriaNunNuit this is not used to check the cloth's fitting, quality comfort etc, this is only used to see how we will look when we wear the dress.

@@RealAlexanderMusic the old fashioned way is a good workout there's too much technology, all the time taken to improve the shopping experience, changes it into a benefitial marketing tool for the consumer to spend even more, it's of no value !

I thought about this idea and I almost started the first steps to patent it then I saw this video and damn it i was so sad to see it already exists and so happy in the same time that I thought about it without knowing it's already exists but hey i will keep thinking about new things 🙂

it's hard to know who came with the idea first, because while Virror was in it's very early stages, there were also other people toying around with that idea at that time (there ware two blog called Kinect Hacks about that kind of stuff), but they were mostly incomplete concepts, I think we're one of the few who have a complete solution now, the only competitors I'm aware of are face cake and fitnect.

Still need some serious software guys to build this type of stuff, and I think a lot of people would be leery right now because the NSA (and all 'law' enforcement) can snoop, take pictures then too, and would then be watching everyone in the store. So, thanks again NSA for ruining something that could have been cool. Otherwise I think the technology is fantastic, and some day somehow we'll get past the idiots that are trying to own us and we'll be able to enjoy what technology has to offer.

it should becoz it works via AI where a laser is projected onto you and then fed into the machine learning algorithm which then tailor the outfit according to your body.

Cool idea, it's a big trend these days to have such technologies. BUT you don't really get the feel of wearing the specific items, how the fabric feels against your skin, how it really fits your body shape. In the end, it's a tool to keep all this lost generations waste more time in the store, while good salespersons lose their jobs.

Nothing will be able to replace trying clothes on for real. The way clothes FIT and how they feel cannot be replicated by a visual. Our skin is our largest sensory organ, we rely on it much more than our eyes. We'll see how long it lasts when everyone starts bringing their clothes back after finally getting the try them on for real once they get home - who wants to make the drive back to the store when you can just try them on for real in the first place. Nice try though, it LOOKS cool, but i don't think it will feel nice.
