Question... Does the camera control app (or external monitor control) allow for "tap to focus" for lenses that the Kinefinity supports electronically? This is extremely useful when using the camera with a gimbal, which this camera is very well suited for size and weight wise. Thanks.

I still can't work out whether the Edge is a REPLACEMENT for the LF or it just bumps the LF down in the lineup (like the Mavos did to the Terra). It sounds like you're saying they'll EOL the Mavo LF and replace it with the Edge. And maybe more importantly, the US service & support is sorely lacking---only Origin Cine in California and they send 90% of their repairs back to China. It's not like Europe, which has you guys and Jerome and ProAV etc. Damn shame, because Kinefinity makes awesomely capable cameras. But they need to pluginto B&H and some other big US Retailers & service dealers, and I'm not sure why Jihua is refusing/avoiding to do that.

Gafpa Gear there’s direct comments from Kinefinity Europe support talking about end-of-life for the LF once the Edge is here. It may take a while, but that’s the confusion

@@silversulu iam not sure what you mean exactly. The mavo lf got lowered in price dramatically in February this year, its 4k cheaper than the edge,... Mostly a camera isnt discontinued pro-activily, instead it happens overtime when noone is buying it anymore.. Besides the covid situation, i still think the mavo lf is priced right and is a feature rich camera! But you may judge differently ;) greets Jerome

BRAW isn't real raw. If I need convenience and speed, I'd just shoot prores. It's sad that Blackmagic took away the real raw option (cDNG).

@@Mr_Frequency Yeah CDNG was good but BRAW is still a fantastic option and especially a great option for 6k and hopefully 8k someday. I mean who cares if it's "real raw" or not (technically R3D isn't "real raw") it's not feasible to record uncompressed raw at 6k and above for most people. What matters is if the footage looks good. And frankly the workflow is much nicer with BRAW than CDNG. Don't get me wrong, CDNG produced great results and I also loved it but just cause they got rid of it for BRAW doesn't make BRAW bad. Also BRAW is alot better option if you are a windows user.

Olpf (optical low pass filter) which takes away uv etc contamination. And adds pixel level blur to avoid unwanted aliasing artefacts

@@gafpagear that it is supported by major software. It was basically only for Mac and fcpx, till last month. Now its in adobe beta, but works poorly there. Resolve won't support it ever, I'm afraid

@@tomcypher3864 hey tom, Even though iam the guy in the red shirt i take full responsibilty for all statements we made in this video. In this case it was indeed a bit to enthousiastic, dont want to turn it too much into a political discussion, but yes a raw codec only works ifits natively supported in all nles and other post production programs. So far we have : avid, fcp, baselight, scratch and adobe (beta version for windows mac later this year), yes the one whos for now missing is Resolve. So theoratically speaking if adobe has full and non buggy support most popular nles support it. As you might know the prores codec has been developed over a long period of time, now with the raw codec we see the same,... its not been made on a monday morning, so I expect that they have a long breath... and will take it easy and plan on the long term, once we see compressed raw in other cameres (yes its an issue but not going in depth with it) people probably find out that prores raw is one of the best in that regard, and once the issues of in camera compressed raw are tackled, and other camra brands will have prores raw, than also resolve will eventually not hold back, but i agree, this might not happen over a short period of time, and is highy political, and hard to understand to most pople who work as an artist.. :)

ProRes raw has more NLE support than BRAW at this point: FCPx, Premiere (native, including windows version, not a plugin like BRAW), Avid, Grass Valley, and a whole bunch of other apps. So because BM won't add ProRes raw support in Resolve to protect BRAW you think that Proves raw isn't widely supported? As Gafpa mentioned in their second reply to you, that is politics (on your part). BM will have to get on the ball at some point too.

@@cam35mm yes I am. Because any real filmmaker would know how to make films with 11-12 stops of DR. And a real filmmaker with knowledge of cameras would know that the Arri Alexa itself (the darling camera of filmmaking) has 14 stops of DR.

@@JamesJacksonFilmz It's the color science for Arri not the DR, if it's all about the DR then go with RED. FFS a filmmaker can make a film with one stop of DR. 11-12 stop of DR is going to have a different look than a 15-16 stop DR, it's like comparing a crayon picture to an oil painting picture.
