Theoretically KW should not be attenuating as it propagates downstream. Is the result you showed schematic or solution from your algorithm? I believe there must be numerical diffusion if it's the solution..it would have been awesome if you could plot the analytical solution side by side. Since the upstream boundary condition is a triangular inflow I believe analytical solution might be possible.. Nice one sir..one more video on diffusive wave as well. Thank you in advance

The attenuation is indeed a result of numerical diffusion.

Hello, Dr. Caspar. I am really interested in your solution. Could I have a look of the code? And could I ask a few questions concerning the kinematic algorithm?

Hi Justin, yes, sure, drop me a line at my Newcastle University e-mail address (see www.ncl.ac.uk/engineering/staff/profile/casparhewett.html).

@@CasparHewettFluids Hello Professor, Thank you for making these videos. I am a mechanical engineer, in R&D, designing cam and followers (among other tasks). Your final solution family of gals looks just like B-Spline basis functions. I use them while designing the lobe shapes for cams, for the followers prescribed motion. I came to this video to brush up on fluid dynamics for another task ( pressurized oil hydraulic linear slideways), trying to incorporate the sudden expansion term to the Bernoulli equation. Take care. Leo, from Denver
