In this Grasshopper tutorial, we are going to model a kinetic clock (Solstice) from scratch. First, we will define the constraints and how they affect the overall changing shape and then we will model the baselines in Grasshopper so we can change the shape of the clock and make it a kinetic art! What is the angle of one of the pieces of the clock
@Bbjns5 жыл бұрын
Rhino can you please tell me that what should be the angle of inner side of each strip and size of one strip? And one more what at the centre I mean Its kinda motor or something else?
@logotrikes3 жыл бұрын
Doesn't look like you'll get a response Mayank. My guess is the angle of each piece is 30 degrees. (something to do with 360 degrees divided by 12 hours equals 30 degrees, which is what I measured using a protractor on my pc screen). The width of the timber pieces looks to be 1 inch wide and maybe 1/4 inch thick. Distance between the two outer holes probably 6 inches with the middle hole 3 inches. Make 24 exact same pieces. the rest is up to you although on the Solstice video there are ample indications how it all goes together. I don't do all this fancy computing, way too old and couldn't be bothered. I just look at the mechanics of something and make guesses on the size of parts and angles. How this thing goes together is reasonably straightforward, the only issues being making the guide rails and how the thing rolls/slides on the rails. The clock part can be a cheap Chinese quartz unit with only using the hour hand. Should be a fun project...
