The "box" he refers to in the wheel well is actually the aircraft battery. He made a mistake painting it red because that's the color they paint a battery when it becomes unserviceable. In times past the aircraft battery should be painted blue. Nowdays they are pink, of all colors... And the bottle that he refers to as an "oxygen" bottle in the other side of the wheel well is actually a halon bottle. That is all the F-16 has for fire suppression.

Not trying to be a nit picker or a know it all. But I have over 15 years experience as a crew chief on the F-16. The "box" you were referring to in the wheel well is actually the aircraft battery and the bottle in the other wheel well is not an oxygen bottle. It's a halon bottle that is part of the fire suppression system. You did an excellent job on this kit. Now I want one of these as well as their DJ kit too!!

About the bird slicer antennas there's no way to please everyone. If you want them to mold it as a separate panel, they did in their old molds and it was a b!tch to align the top and side panels. At 13:27 even for a single panel you had to fill and sand. While molded bird slices on the nose and the beer cans on the slats you simply slice and sand flush, you don't need to deal with multiple panel alignment, filling and sanding and reescribing panel lines.
@MisterGsWorkbench
@MisterGsWorkbench Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about aligning all those panels around the nose. I suppose it's the simplest solution. Thanks for watching.

Good job man. About the Have Glass piant, you can combine grey with metal color like Peri did (link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmGug4GLraeMsJI). I tried to piant that with Prime Metal color from the Chinese brand JUMPWIND mixing with flat black, turns out to be a little grep with metal reflection you can see the real plane under the sun. Of course the Have Glass piant in reality is dust colllector, thus the reflection is not that visible in many photos. Anyway, great job!

Great build, only one remark tho, AIM-120 goes on the wingtips, F-16 mounts them there cause the weight of those missiles reduces the wing wobble in flight. so if you look at the box picture and any online pic of real F-16 you'll notice those slammers are on the wingtips ;)

You just answered a burning question I've had for some time. I'd always assumed larger, heavier ordinance would go further out on the wings, so putting the AIM-120 on the wingtip stations where the AIM-9s went left me scratching my head. Thanks for your insight.

Plus I have some AIM-9 missiles left over from the amk f-14 which are one piece although I can't recall if they are 9l or 9x. Nice build! Unfortunately Kinetic does not provide basic features of blk 25 - 42 which are prominent! 1. ECS exhaust vent (blk 42 only) located below the cockpit forward right top fuselage and 2. Stiffening plates at the top of the fuselage and wing roots. The ECS vent can be easily scratch-built and the stiffening plates are available in p.e or vinyl from some after-market companies.

Thanks, great build review! I'm building this kit now, and every fit issue you had I had also, so glad to know it's not me. Under the wings, and that gap on the piece behind the front gear, the nose. It's a great kit overall. I sprung for the Eduard Space set and it went on great with the 3d printed instrument "decals". The way you did it with the kit decals looks really good though. Man those AIM-9Xs S-U-C-K. The AIM-120s looked way too complicated, so I used spares, but the HARMs went together surprisingly well given the number of parts they have.

Nice. Yeah, having done a Skunkworks F-16XL and ... too many Kinetic F/A-18s, kinetic *really* needs to have someone look at their instructions and build the kit with them to see what actually doesn't make sense (or doesn't fit, or is on the wrong side of the airplane.) My experiences with their hornet (HATE that nose assembly) make me really wary of other kits of theirs I have in the stash... which is too bad, as I recall liking the F-5A.

Glad you used the kit instrument panel decals. I agree with the green being too bright. We were limited in color use on the decal sheet so it had to share the Toledo tail green. In the next boxings, I changed the screen color to a very dark green and am much more pleased with it.

@timcalhoun7031

Just a heads up, but those MFD (Multi Fumction Display) screens are only bright green like that when either the engine is running or if there is external electrical power applied to the aircraft and they are turned on for maintenance. Otherwise either a gloss black or a very dark green, almost black, would be accurate. The same goes for the small RHAW screen in the upper left instrument panel.

Let me remind you some issues, some of them present also on your build video: nose cone, intake lip, cannon fit, underwing assembly panels that must be filled, the entire tail is a mess, canopy seamline, the two parts fuselage. Getting a decent model it's not so easy at all, it needs a lot of extra work. For an average modeler this is a very difficult kit.
