This is an amazing piece of art combined with technology. It tells a story of the history of how auto design has changed from the early 30s and onto today.

i spoke to the project manager of this project. this took ALOT of work, its really not as easy as u may think. there wasnt a program who can do this, they had to use a brand new program. i personally love this. its a new form of art from engineering. surprising that the string holding each sphere is actually GREEN fishing string... yep, green...

this made me want to stay alive, i would like to compliment, namely, the smoothness of the movements.
@fretlessbass2616 жыл бұрын
ki·net·ic --adjective 1. pertaining to motion. 2. caused by motion. 3. characterized by movement: Running and dancing are kinetic activities. because it moves, regardless of how, it is a kinetic sculpture.

I think they should've finished it off by making the balls spell "BMW" that would have been the icing on the cake for me - truly awesome display

That's so cool! If you ignore the slight visibility of the wires it looks anti gravity lol

No its not computer controlled. After the opening of the olympic games in Beijing, BMW hired 800 chinese synchroto puppeteers which are all pulling the strings of these balls from the upper level. Its magnificient! You can see it at 4:08

@thefrub didn't mean it was photo shopped or fake at all I meant the the programming that went into this for the motors and stuff to set the balls at specific heights

its absolutely real, i mean i you somehow go to that place you will see that in real life. the only part where a computer comes in is when it controls the motors to make shapes

I think they can´t be magnetic, you will need such a powerful magnet to do it that every metallic object in the room would be attracted by it. Also, the power of the magnet should be specifically controlled to attract the balls in different ways (they go up and down, so they would move depending on the attraction, like if you could change the gravity and fly if you wanted to). I think there should be some strings

Its a masterpiece of art. I wonder if they update the current designs or this is a one time installation. Anyway, I didn't know watching metal balls dancing can be so calming
@jerryfinsternumber915 жыл бұрын
It's okay, although i'm not sure how it is Art and Science (hatem0199 and maeleong2000) cause it's just metal balls on strings that have been programmed by an ordanary computer to move in different patterns. :P

@simianwarthog I agree. It begins with the knowledge to know that this is within an artists' means and ability to carry out the ideas with conviction. Knowing that - is the beginning to unadulterated creativity. Its not that hard - so go at it... see what you can come up with - with conviction - as warthog says. Thanks!
