If you do the Bartholomew quests, and he survived, one of the crossbow parts you need is in the inventory he sells. The crossbow trigger occasionally shows up from the traders so buy it when it comes up even early in game. Maintaining a high opinion from the Earl opens up the nobility quest line in that you're offered the chance to return to England as part of his personal retinue. If his opinion is already high enough, sparing Roche doesn't affect joining his retinue and you don't get thrown into prison either. It really doesn't matter which choice you make if you're going the mercenary route since that just depends on you staying in France instead of returning to England. What really hurts your options is the low opinion of your fellow soldiers. You missed visiting Eva after saving her father.

I don't think he'd survive the Nobility track due to facing that certain Mini-Boss fight... He definitely ended a few of my attempts on that route.

One thing to note about breaking armor (or, in this episode, helmets), they have HP equivalent to how much armor they provide, so even damaged armor will still block most of your damage, especially if they're wearing something like plate armor: some enemies can have in excess of 40 armor. Next time you're playing, hover over the damaged helmet/armor to see how much armor the damaged piece still provides. The further you progress into the game the higher your odds of coming across an enemy you gotta carve open 5-6 times before you can begin dealing damage.

Also the best way to deal with Tin cans is poison. Even a nick doing 1 dmg can build up to 27+ dmg and cause severe wounds the next time damage occurs. If you can't find enough unknown poison, merc path anna sells strong homebrew for 150. Stack up poison and go ham on bosses.

I never found Breaking Armor that useful because the Armor value on some parts is so high... and you only do like 8-9 dmg to the part.

I wonder if you could have added the face guard to your already made helmet and it turn into a semi knights helm

Is that possible with an already crafted helm? If so, I definitely missed a good opportunity. :)
