King County Metro (Seattle, WA) 2002-03 Gillig Trolley Coach

A Ride aboard King County Metro (Seattle, Washington) 2002-03 Gillig Phantom Trolley Coach #4156. Gillig built 100 Phantom bodies which were then shipped to Seattle for them to install rebuilt Randtronics Propulsion systems from the old AM General Trolley Coaches.

It was in Buses magazine June issue, Seattle has dismissed hybrids in favour of 159 new trolleys for delivery from September 2014.

@yorkie556 - Yup! I heard that elsewhere as well! Very good news! Now to find out what type and model! I am thiking NFI will be building them, but it would be going to tender first for sure. So we shall see what happens.

These buses took the word "replacement" to a whole new level. I say that in the sense that they took the running gear of the fleet that they replaced (AM General, 900-series) and put them in the Gillig shells, saving taxpayers $20,000,000. That's the only smart thing METRO did at that time, and the Breda idea wasn't without its charm, either.

@yorkie556 Wait... Seattle is now buying new trolley's? Where did you hear that, I heard Seattle was replacing them with Diesle hybrids. Please tell me where you got this information from. I must look at the information you've just said. New Trolleys would be a WIN for the sake of our beautiful planet earth. :D
