Beginning around 09:12 is the first time I’ve ever seen Robert Fripp play bass - albeit a MIDI fretless bass tone triggered by his six-string electric guitar - and I must admit, I’m surprised at how protective of my turf that made me feel. Maybe this is how Robert feels when people try covering his compositions. I said during a Zoom meeting he was a part of that I was going to try learning some ‘80s League of Gentlemen riffs - not intending anything dismissive by it, fully apprehending these are difficult pieces, simply wanting to appreciate them a new way and thinking one or two might be within my technical reach - and I don’t know whether I imagined this or not, but I thought he seemed a bit miffed. So… no disrespect intended, Robert? And certainly not trying to intrude on your territory, or to presume I ever could… just a bit overenthusiastic at times, I guess? 😕

Oh, I guess Robert wouldn't like that I want to have a Crimson cover band... still gonna do it, tho.

Saw them several times on this tour and the last from this iteration of the band. I liked them much more than the double trio. The sound was much less cluttered, the band could and did listen to one another much more effectively.

I wonder, will DGM release more (or all) of those BootlegTV recordings on youtube? There was some talk a while back about them being made avaiable on the DGM Live site but that never materialized. Three fairly lengthy tour videos so far. At 1080p these concert clips are quite good.

I just had the wonderful experience of meeting Adrian Belew. He was playing with Todd Rundgren to pay TRibute to David Bowie. I bowed to him. I was in the presence of geniuses.
@cuzned13755 жыл бұрын
Whoa. If i had to name the Adrian-era piece i've played the most, it would be either "Indiscipline" or "Deception of the Thrush". And i literally never grokked that Ade isn't involved in "Deception" at all. Are there other KC performances that don't utilize the whole band...?
@HerbalistGuybrush5 жыл бұрын
Not sure entirely but FraKctured also is Fripp only on gtr. Maybe Ade joins somewhere - not sure.
@cuzned13753 жыл бұрын
@@exeromusic Oh yeah, there's a fair amount of gold in those ProjeKcts. As a matter of fact, if i remember right, my favorite rendition of Deception is from The Roar of P4. I guess i just presumed (without really thinking about it) that once the whole band started playing it, they divvied up the various guitar noises between Robert and Ade. I wonder what the recent beastly line-ups would do with the piece... But i suspect that it was more Trey's baby than Robert's.
@MarceloKatayama2 жыл бұрын
@@HerbalistGuybrush Frakctured does have Belew on Guitar, but only for the soft and fairy fingers sections. All of the sprints and the terror section are performed by Fripp.
