George VI (Albert) was more precious, quite simply put, than Edward. George VI was very good looking in my opinion, long slender face, soft doe eyes, and lightly fluffy hair. Everyone doesn't need to be domineering. Albert was a good husband and father to Elizabeth and Margaret, he's respectable for that alone

I consider George VI far more handsome than his brother Edward. Also, despite his stammer, shyness, etc, he had the qualities of determination and persistence, despite setbacks. His wooing of Elizabeth was one example. The qualities were very important during the crisis of World War II. He continued to believe in an Allied victory no matter how things went, and he showed himself, in uniform, to the people, even if he couldn't make stirring speeches. He was an awesome king.
@jennynasser17 ай бұрын
Hang on! You called him “George,” in the photo of him between his older brother, Edward (David) & younger brother, George! His name was “Albert,” (Bertie), until he came to the throne when he was virtually forced or forcibly “encouraged” to choose his regal name of George, by his mother, Queen Mary, who wanted to honor her deceased husband, & the PM Winston Churchill who thought “Albert,” was too German! However, even after becoming crowned king, he was still called his name, Bertie & not by his title, which was George.
@lsmith92497 ай бұрын
he chose his own regnal name, and chose George to show the continuity of the Monarchy he was not forced, every Monarch has to choose a regnal name for the purpose of their reign, and they inform the ascension council of the regnal name they have chosen, Queen Mary was not part of the ascension council and she believe in the Monarchy and how it worked he chose his regnal name, but he hadn't changed his own name so he was still Bertie regnal names are not part of a Monarch's title, his title was HIS MAJESTY, KING GEORGE VI

What happened to Edward was a coup against the British people.
@BlueSaphire707 ай бұрын
Well, Edward didn't like to do the things he was supposed to do, like attend hospital openings and charity events. He sent his brother Bertie and then went out to a social event with his friends while his brother covered for him. He let the red boxes, which contain private, secret government documents, lying about where anyone could get to them. He talked about government matters in social gatherings with perfect strangers. After the abdication, and in the middle of the possibility of war, he accepted an invitation to dinner with Adolph Hitler where he was filmed doing the Nazi salute. In a word, he was an utter security risk. The UK should erect a beautiful statue to Wallis Simpson in deepest gratitude for saving them from the disaster that was Edward VIII.
