idk about that. krule is good but got nothing on billy woods who carries hundreds of years of history and a global perspective on his back with lyricism that contends with the so-called classics we're all taught in academia. his art has far more importance and I'm sure Archy would agree. that's not to downplay anyone else. woods is just on a level that most artists will never reach due to historical circumstances. we have to be honest about how king krule takes more than he gives back to the universe when it comes to the art that informs him (reggae, garage, hip-hop) and with an industry that is still racially biased

At 5:45, you can see me, crowdsurfing, ending up on the stage, and then being pushed off. I want to talk about this moment for a brief second. This was taken at King Krule's first show in Houston, April 9th, 2018. I didn't ask to crowd surf. A group of "friends" grabbed me and lifted me without my consent. I did not ask to be thrown onto the stage. People tried getting me back onto the stage, so I had to divert my legs to get back onto the ground. I still feel embarrassed of this moment to this day. To Archy and co., if you're reading this, I'm sorry, I wish this never happened.

At a show in Toronto a few years back when I was still a teen there was one point at the beginning of the show where Archie's eyes locked onto me sitting in a booth near the back of the venue for a solid minute as he screamed at the top of his lungs and stared me down (wish I could remember the song he was singing) and I mouthed every lyric back, growing up on his music it was the coolest thing ever. I don't think I'll ever see a band that can perform their songs with such genuine and raw emotion like that. the King
