I’m a South African and I remember when I was a child and there was a newborn in the family, when the baby was a month old, on a full moon, my grandmother who was Sotho, would take the baby outside in the evening and speak to the baby and chanting, introducing the baby to the moon! No outsider besides the family members was allowed to see the baby before this ritual. Wow!
