He's meant to be the opposite to Kyo in a lot of ways, sun vs moon, Kyos themes being rock while Iori's is Jazz, Kyo's themes have a heavy use of Electric Guitars so they gave Iori the Saxophone in his themes as the answer to the instruments that appear in every Esaka. The Bass plays alongisde the Sax in every theme without fail as that's Iori's instrument.

I'm going to be honest. I'm not the biggest fan of KOF XIII Iori, however, if there is one thing about this version of Iori that makes me appreciate it, is the animations. I mean just look at that huge bleeding scratch he does at the end of those supers. Like geez! Chill out Iori! This is King of Fighters! Not Mortal Kombat! You want to get into Mortal Kombat?
